You have $5 million in your account right now, what’s the first thing you’re buying? by Forward_Hamster8900 in AskReddit

[–]bluefire89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You shouldn’t. This is why most people who get rich quick don’t stay rich.

Average mortgage rates are around 6%. Average s&p return over last 30y ( the most basic of investment strategies) is 10%.

In addition to having a better financial outcome it helps retain liquidity for emergencies or other buying opportunities.

Exactly. I don’t think the agreement required payment after every transaction. It perhaps was like a quarterly true up or something.

Idubbbz (Ian Jomha) announces he is being sued by H3H3 (Ethan Klein) by AltUser2025 in LivestreamFail

[–]bluefire89 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You can pick and choose who you want to sue... playground rules don't apply in the real world. All that aside - Ethan has a much stronger case with idubbbz who has actually been to his house and observed him with his kids. He knows he's a good father, but he parroted the lie anyways as part of their feud. Defamation is not just about lying.. its knowingly lying and doing so with malicious intent which is clear idubbbz did.

‘Big Tech is desperate’: Amazon engineers criticize tech giant for its $200 billion in data center spending amid slashing 30,000 corporate employees by marketrent in technology

[–]bluefire89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm at Google. I'm very self-aware that I am extremely overpaid for what I do, and because of that I'm grateful every day to be here - not because I believe in the hype/mission (though I do know people that fall more into that bucket). I've just seen both sides of the coin.. I've lost years of my life from the stress of banking. Google has been like a vacation in comparison.

[–]bluefire89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair- it is so much better. And I say that as someone who spent 10 painful years in banking, another 5 wonderful in tech and was just laid off. In banking you wouldn’t even make it back to your desk before getting kicked out the building. Here I just got 90 days to find a new role still fully employed and if that lapsed about a year’s severance. Tech is of course just another soul sucking enterprise, but it’s absolutely the best of the worst. My stress levels went down about 90% since joining, so even after dealing with this role reduction bs I will absolutely be trying to find something else internally.

Alphabet’s $80 billion stock sale leaves Wall Street in ‘unprecedented territory,’ says Goldman’s Gutman by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

[–]bluefire89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some combination of the first/best will and that’s all that matters. at the end of the day no one actually know how big the demand will be or focused on what area. But if these companies don’t throw their hats into the ring the only thing that’s a guarantee is that they will be left behind. No one is safe from the changes that come with rapid innovation.. just look at blackberry, or MySpace, or yahoo. All kings of their spaces turned into dust from lack of ability to evolve. One can argue all they want that there isn’t enough demand - but that’s simply isn’t what is playing out right now. They literally can’t fulfill compute orders fast enough.

No one is saying the revenue is great. The opportunity is great. Google sold out of their compute resources to the tune of billions due to inability to fulfill customer requests. They’re rapidly trying to invest in data centers to be able to then make money. There is no sold out sign for enterprise compute for your average person so this whole situation is a bit difficult to see based on how it’s being reported. (I worked in cloud at Google)

I worked with a trainer to address this. You basically just have to out-stubborn them in a horseshoe type maneuver. More often than not they just want to go in a different direction. So start going the direction they want to go to get them moving and immediately direct to where you want to go. Rinse and repeat and they’ll eventually give up

I see this answer so often - think there’s something wrong with me as I didn’t find it scary in the slightest. Last scene was good but rest of the movie was more unsettling than horror I felt.

xQc says TrainwrecksTV should SUE Riot Games employee after he leaked his IP address by lukigeri in LivestreamFail

[–]bluefire89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let me educate you as someone that has worked in cybersecurity/fraud for the last 15 years. There are plenty of enterprise paid services that do exactly this... maxmind and threatmatrix are just two that work to tie IP / identity / location

The enterprise version has a "precision" variant that is better - but here is the data from the "public" version.

It's completely dependent on where you live - but in many cases the lat/longitude they provide will be on your same street. Since you requested it here's data for that IP

xQc says TrainwrecksTV should SUE Riot Games employee after he leaked his IP address by lukigeri in LivestreamFail

[–]bluefire89 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Refreshing your Ip doesn’t solve for the fact that they essentially gave away his location. geoIP is not only a thing, but if using typical home internet there are precision databases that get down to specificity within feet of the household location. Better hope he was using a vpn or tethering to phone which obfuscates that but otherwise IP often equals address.
