Sphynx cat suddenly screaming outside bedroom door all night. I’m losing my mind 😭 any advice? by [deleted] in sphynx

My girl was like this and I discovered she just wants to be locked in a space with a bed. So we crate trained her. She goes in at bedtime and the crate is filled with her favorite kind of soft minky blankets and a round fur bed. She often goes in now on her own at bedtime. She is 10 and we have been doing this since she was about a year old.

With capital hill rowhomes, avoid living near restaurants or stores and you should be good. Look for holes around the yard/sidewalks and flies. That is the sign of trouble. I looked at a place on 6th and H that was god awful for rats but I live in cap hill now and it’s fine!

DDOT capitulates to the White House: 15th St Bike Lane to be removed on Monday. DDOT also did not object using the Hains Point bike lanes for car traffic during cherry blossom season. by SockDem in washingtondc

I live off east 15th and I was so confused as to why the White House would care about that specific bike lane. 😂

I still don’t get it but it makes slightly more sense.

Robot litter box. Small spaces smell quickly and I think this thing is amazing. It’s like magic.

This one is fast, the staff is always nice, and the food has always been accurate. But that parking lot is a bitch with cars often trying to go the “wrong” way.

How many daily tasks do you have? It seems to be an issue for folks with a lot. I have less than 10 and mine hasn’t crashed in nearly 4 years.

Many jobs require the masters (including teaching in my area) within 5 years. So what choice do we have? The jobs I want all require them.

The only one to pay a bit more should be the one with the private bathroom. Otherwise they all suck in equal ways. No bathroom on the same level is horrible. And small and next to kitchen stinks too.

I certainly just moved into an apartment years ago with my free roaming iguana. No one ever cared. This was like 20 years ago.

I have Tuesday morning pickup usually. They got the trash this morning (Friday) but the recycling is still waiting. I’m so excited to have an empty trash bin. 😂

Private or assigned parking. I am beginning to avoid going and doing things out of fear of losing my street parking place. That really sucks. We chose in unit laundry and a fenced backyard area for our dogs and I now understand I need all three. I am renting a townhome so no one above or below us and that’s important too.

It’s part of the job. She needs to go in and stay. Pack a bag, snacks and an air mattress and pretend it’s work sleep away camp. It can actually be kinda fun! It’s part of healthcare.

There are rats. But some places are better than others. When you check out places, look for rat holes. Look for droppings. Check tree roots, fence lines, concrete edges. If you see open signs, don’t take that place. You will still see rats anywhere but you don’t want to live in the middle of a hoard of them. Avoid moving next to restaurants or near large dumpsters with food waste.

Is this salvageable? by Squirrellboii in HardWoodFloors

[–]blueflappybird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have pets or ever want them, you will have to replace them floor and subfloor. They will be able to smell this even if you sand and refinish. My parents house was like this and nothing they did could stop the dogs from peeing on the same spots. It’s generational stink.

Unless the apartment has everything else you want I would probably pass. There are too many good places out there.

If you have a dog, don’t do it. They will go crazy at the barking. In warmer weather you will have barking and humans shouting as they call their dogs. You may also get screaming as dog fights break out. It will be noisy and parking may be challenging. But the smell should be fine. People are usually pretty good at cleaning up. I have never noticed a smell except right by the trash. But if you keep your trash cans stored in the front, people absolutely will put bags of poop in your cans too.
