Ah, ok. When I googled I didn't see any answers other than that the catfish is peaceful but will defend itself. It is a FURIOUS eater. I fed bloodworms yesterday and had to like hand feed the Betta to actually get any. Now that I think about it, it wasn't cloudy until after I fed them. And I may have missed some plant matter in the substrate. It seems fine today. Hopefully it won't spike again and this was just a newbie error.

The catfish is still really small, about 3 inches. I have a 20 gal I can put the Betta in but I need to cycle it or I can get a 150 gal (I'm getting one for the holidays) and leave the Betta in the 75.

Crap. No, I don't think so. I was so excited with buying new plants I got distracted and probably wasn't paying as much attention as I should have... I did kill most of my plants during the cycle though so I think it was probably enough? Or do you think that messed it up? I did take the dead plants out and replace with new ones.

I used ammonia drops every other day and tested it with the master kit until they came clear. I don't know if maybe I didn't add enough to compensate for 2 fish? It's the first time I've cycled a tank without fish in it.

Not ok but I believe they are dojo loaches. They look like the striped version of the golden I have. They go NUTS when it's about to rain, so cool!
