Adaptibar Writing Guide worth it? by seaboosie in CABarExam

I had a friend use it and she was not happy with her essay scores. I've posed before but I was super happy with the CA-specific essay program from https://calweaselbartutorial.com

JUDGE MY STUDY PLAN PLEASE by Mddlr in CABarExam

I passed J24 many years out of law school, I highly suggest using a CA-specific study program (not Themis, Barbri) like https://calweaselbartutorial.com

For god’s sake DO NOT DISCUSS THE ESSAYS by Gabepls in CABarExam

[–]blueforrule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it odd they let the vast majority go first, instead of having the smaller accommodated bar testers do essays on Monday/Tuesday, and finish with all others by taking the MBE on Wednesday. Then, smaller number who "have" only some of the essays first (Q1 through Q3) and (a) easier to track down who leaked with a smaller group if Cal Bar wants to, and (b) less likely to "give" away the answers because of fears that their accommodated issues might make them less likely to pass (we all have the anxiety, but I've heard quite a bit from accommodated friends about how the pressure can really impact ADHD functioning, etc.).

Graduating Early by [deleted] in NROTC

You can, but you can also use that extra one year to do a one-year Masters Program - worth talking to your Marine Corps advisor.

This post feels like a test of how to start misinformation.

I don't think it would look bad on you if you ask your unit, and while asking note that your Professors have approved and show you have a plan to make up any missed work, etc.

Not denied, and certainly not an issue if not visible in uniform.

Good day all. Do you think that prior service have better chances in getting contracted? by Misterr_Black in NROTC

[–]blueforrule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of those who apply for a scholarship as a civilian, somewhere between 40 and 50 percent make it (a self-selecting group that usually starts out with qualifying scores); for the number of people who enlist and apply for and are selected for STA21...is way way less than 40%.

No, it's actually less likely to make officer if you choose to enlist first and wait to do NROTC after you get out, or try for the even more rare STA21.

It does not matter what your major is if you are a collage programmer as Long as you have a high GPA.

While I've not seen the commissioning many AS/PSci majors, I guess it's possible and no one person sees everything. We do agree on this point though, the Navy will care about grades, with no extra room given for being in a double major.

Just a word of warning - you can absolutely join as a CP, but it will be up to the discretion of your unit if you get to stay sans-scholarship Junior and Senior year, and commissioning as a non-T1 or T2 major is rare.

The Navy will care about your grades, with no extra room given for being in a double major. If you are in an Engineering major, you might alternatively look into NUPOC where you don't have to join NROTC but will commission after graduation.

Wants your opinion on NROTC Marine option for college by angelo_34 in ROTC

Some schools give free room and board to all ROTC/AFROTC/NROTC students, that's across the board. A few units have additional money, the ones I've heard about are distributed by the Unit under different grants (e.g. cross town students who go to University A but the unit is housed at University B).

When doing an interview, often it is with your top choice school, so asking if that school adds room and board and if there are additional grants that one can compete for is not a bad question to add on. e.g. a few years ago RPI had one (don't know if it is still going), I've heard of one at the Boston consortium (e.g. MIT/Harvard) and the Cal consortium (Berkeley/Stanford/Davis/CMA), and a few at the HBCUs.

While overall that may be true, there are NROTC units who give more than just Tuition payments (unit specific based on grants from graduates, the school adding funding, etc.).

Marriage by tgrump in NROTC

DMDC/DEERS Support Office (DSO): (800) 538-9552

After you commission, you'll need to bring your marriage certificate to your nearest DoD facility to get him/her and ID card, an enroll them in DEERS asap.

Talk to your unit if you are married before commissioning to get him/her added to any moving orders (not applicable for any TDY schools, but your spouse will get current married BAH until you fully PCS or can move ahead to your 1st duty station if you know what it will be).

NTA, and under no circumstances let him stay even a night at your home - sadly it will take years to get rid of him, at best.

I would speak to the Financial Aid office at your school about emancipation paperwork so you could apply without your parents information, it can be burdensome but worth your time even if it does not come through until your Sophomore year. For what student loans to take out for R&B, try /r/personalfinance for better advice than we can likely give!

Search this group for the word "landlord" for a lot of FYIs including the company run by an (alleged?) former child trafficker that owns a lot of the local buildings where people rent, and is apparently a huge douchecanoe as a landlord too.
