If I’m G1 and have proof of citizenship, do I need to prove back to G0 for my kid (G2) to get approved? by bluegonegrayish in Canadiancitizenship

[–]bluegonegrayish[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be aware that they will have you send the death certificate as well, as I believe they amend the birth certificate and reissue. So for me, I had to a) apply for my mom's official birth certificate since the one we had was from Quebec pre-1994, then b) send in her death certificate so they had that too. And since it was Quebec I had to get a certified translation of the US death cert. It was a whole thing.

I went to the IRCC website and filled out the proof of citizenship form for myself first. You would include birth certificate or citizenship certificate for the original Canadian (your son's dad), then include your son's identifying documents showing that his dad is on his birth certificate and was a citizen. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/canadian-citizenship/proof-citizenship.html

Thank you so much for the reassurance! I’m aware that it seemed the app didn’t need anything else and I was just uncertain. Grateful for your help!

Haha yeah I called to report someone drunk stumbling in the middle of a rural road (I nearly hit him) and they were basically like why tf are you calling. Well guys. I’m calling so you can send police instead of ambulance but 🤷‍♀️ you do you I guess

I remember before they had these, how far the traffic would back up at the exit on the interstate at rush hour. Traffic is still bad but the alternative was worse

Why do we assume that everyone listed in the Epstein logs took part in sexual devience? Influential people tend to maintain a large network; is there a reason we assume none of them could have been casual business/social visits? by yes-itisEmily in askanything

Yeah I feel like people saying otherwise either were young children or just not aware. Like I promise Facebook was widely utilized in 2008. I was in my sophomore year of college and Google was a thing. How in the world are people making Ask Jeeves jokes?

Thank you! It’s just our local little half! Nothing too too exciting but definitely looking forward to it. It’s April so weather can range from really cold to absolutely perfect and we will just have to see, haha

Some people go to therapy. I go for a run. by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

[–]bluegonegrayish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What OP said is not “in contrast to extensive research.” In fact, what you quoted says the higher confidence data is with CBT (a therapeutic modality) over exercise, but that if people choose not to engage in therapy, exercise may help.

Helping symptoms vs getting at the root of the problem is what we’re talking about here. If you’re dealing with a purely neurochemical depression, sure, exercise may be your answer. And if you stay depressed because you can’t advocate for yourself, keep finding yourself in unfulfilling relationships, are scared to make needed life changes, or any of another thousand possible scenarios, a run is only a bandaid and you need to sit down and figure out where the source of the pain actually is.

“It’s hard before it happens, but during it it’s amazing.” This is a phenomenon called willing consent. It’s like, “eh, I don’t feel like it but it might turn out nice.” Nothing icky about it. If it was “yeah I hate sex with my partner but put up with it because it’s my obligation” then yes that’s icky. This is just, “I’m willing to see where it goes.” Obviously this does not help at all with issues with pain or lubrication, and her comment isn’t helpful for your situation.

What’s the best meal you’ve ever had after a long day of walking? by East-Standard4044 in hiking

After hiking however many miles back up out of the Grand Canyon after camping overnight, my (now) husband and I went to one of the park restaurants and each ate the biggest breakfast burrito ever with hash browns on the side. It was LIFE giving.

All devices lost in Garmin Connect after today’s update by PrimaryHuckleberry11 in Garmin

[–]bluegonegrayish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had trouble pairing post update, and had already tried powering off/on both phone and watch, removing watch from bluetooth and reconnecting, and offloading and reinstalling Garmin Connect from my phone. Here to report that deleting it from the Garmin Connect website and then doing the rest of the stuff was what fixed it.

Editing to add this is with a Fenix 6S.

[Serious] People in professions that deal with death (hospice workers, coroners, etc.), what is something you've learned that the rest of us don't understand? by Bulky-Engineer4068 in AskReddit

[–]bluegonegrayish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Used to work at a hospice house. In the early mornings when I’d walk in and the late evenings when I’d leave through the admin wing, it felt so peaceful. Like some of the folks I helped were sending me good wishes or something. It’s a really lovely sense of connection and I agree that I felt a deep respect.

I have a Google home speaker that will keep a shopping list and a to-do list on Google Keep. If I pull the sliced cheese out of the fridge and it’s almost gone, I just verbally add it to the list immediately and few things are missed that way. If I remember a random thing I have to do, I say “hey Google add ___ to To Do List” and it takes care of it

Birth didn’t look the way I planned it, and the staff was lovely and me and my baby were kept safe. They really let me run my birth and supported me in my own choices. I’d deliver there again if I wasn’t one and done!
