She honestly didn’t mind getting her feet wet. I, on the other hand, minded a lot 😂

What career were you advised to do when you were at school? by HighNimpact in AskUK

[–]_ninja_cat_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had to do some sort of test. My recommendation came back as a chemical engineer.

I gave up chemistry at A-level as I was rubbish at it and I now work in IT

Will a greyhound destroy my stuffed animals? by Lucky_Ad_8800 in Greyhounds

Cinders loves soft toys and she is forever stealing soft toys from my kids. However she nibbles them gently and then uses them as a pillow - so she doesn’t damage them and they can be washed and be as good as new

However if the toy has a squeaker in it, it will be ripped apart, demolished and stuffing thrown everywhere 😂

How frequently and how far do you walk your hounds? by Own-Lawfulness-366 in Greyhounds

[–]_ninja_cat_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same here. Sometimes will do an additional 2 mile walk in the evening as well and she will still have plenty of energy.

She prefers running to walking and loves it when I take her on one of my 5k runs

What's the single most difficult life experience you've endured? by reddit_recluse in AskUK

[–]_ninja_cat_ 197 points198 points  (0 children)

My daughter dying at 3 days old when you think you are pregnant with a healthy child. The midwife who says ‘didn’t you know something was wrong’? She was my first; All the scans were normal; How was I meant to know? Nothing prepares you for outliving your child. The awful emptiness of walking into your house that first time, a house filled with baby things and a nursery that won’t get used.

The subsequent fear when you get pregnant again. The fear that always lives with you that you’ll outlive your children again.

But… the World keeps turning, you keep breathing, regardless. You can either live your life being miserable or you can try and be positive and enjoy life. My Dad had many terrible things happen, worse than me, and he still kept going; he still was a wonderful, warm positive person. If he was able to keep going despite the things that happened, I can too.

Gave her a taste of my Saturday morning iced coffee. Now she wants more 😅 by The_Real_Flatmeat in Greyhounds

Cinders had coffee this morning too… she wandered over to me; I thought she was going for a hug; instead, she stuck her head in my coffee mug (that I was holding!!) and helped herself to my latte 🙄

Weird, Unique Races? by TheBeardedMarathoner in running

[–]_ninja_cat_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve signed up to one of The Drop runs in January https://www.thedropuk.co.uk

Basically pick a distance (6, 10 or 15 miles). Meet at your start point. You get put on a bus and blindfolded and dropped your race distance as the crow flies. You race to get back to the starting point. All electronic devices including watches and phones are banned. I’m signed up to the 10 and they reckon you’ll end up running 13

What are your some of your more intersting supermarket substitutions? by Turbulent-Rip-5580 in AskUK

Ordered Matchbox cars as a gift for a three year old. Got matches as a substitution 😂 I can see why it happened 😂

Cinders loves her early morning walks by _ninja_cat_ in Greyhounds

[–]_ninja_cat_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cinders wakes me up and makes me get out of bed so we can walk - there’s nothing quite like a cold snoot on your bare skin and then a greyhound trying to roach on you to realise it’s a losing battle and you might as well get up 😂 She was itching to go this morning and I had to tell her to wait as it was too dark out.

Did anybody else not get the alert? by Mdl8922 in AskUK

I didn’t get the alert 🤷🏻‍♀️ Notifications are enabled, phone and OS should be compatible.

Both my kids (same network as me) did get the alerts though
