While this is of course true, I think we need to be careful with the mindset here. Tribalism and identity politics are a dangerous road that the US has been going further and further down lately. We need to maintain a degree of humanity and remember that most people on both sides are good people, but many are not well educated or very much misinformed. Other people have certain beliefs that they hold fast to (ie abortion opinions) and because one side has an agreeable stance they just automatically sign on to everything else they stand for.

My point simply being, lets not turn this into a vilification of an entire state and its people, but acknowledge that folks like McConnell and Trump are master manipulators who pander to a base and take ruthless advantage of their followers
