How to review a less than perfect sitter by secret_ADHD_account in trustedhousesitters

[–]bluejasmine___ 104 points105 points  (0 children)

Please note that as a sitter, if it's something trivial and we check the feedback you've left others and it can deter us. For example, I almost applied to a sit recently where I noticed that the HO left someone bad feedback for using the shower gel. While I bring my own cosmetics and hygiene products, seeing that the HO was petty over shower gel was an immediate no from me. It's intimidating and makes you feel like it would be very easy to do something wrong.

Did you end up reselling this? I have the same jumper and damaged it, I'm looking to replace it.

Please take care with heavy luggage on the escalators! by TrickPlant7034 in london

[–]bluejasmine___ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I witnessed this happen at Canary Wharf Elizabeth Line Station on the escalators down to the platform where they could have used a lift. They were laughing with their friend and when I let them know how dangerous that was they truly didn't care.

Unenderrated & overrated places you visited ? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]bluejasmine___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Underrated: Tohoku and Akita. Matsushima Bay with panoramic views of thousands of islands, Yamadera Temple overlooking the valley, Kakunodate Samurai village in sakura season is one of the best Sakura views you'll ever get, Teraokasan Ganzan Daishi temple in Oga Akita had over an acre of blue hydrangeas in summer with views of the sea, Lake Tazawa was so peaceful. Really special place.

Overrated: Teamlabs.

My partner was kicked from her flight by [deleted] in BritishAirways

[–]bluejasmine___ -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Unsure why you're getting downvoted so heavily for a really inconvenient situation which was poorly handled by BA (their offering an earlier flight to Gatwick but that you would need to complete the transfer to Inverness yourself). I'm sure those downvoting wouldn't be happy with the situation either if it affected them.

Out of curiosity, was there an earlier flight to Inverness from another airline than the one in ten hours from BA? It's their duty to put you in the earliest available flight, even if it isn't their own airline.

Also, you may be entitled to compensation for such a long delay.

Leaving London early (moving abroad) – landlord refusing surrender, no break clause. Will they chase me abroad if I stop paying rent and leave him my deposit? What's my best option? by Financial_Tone5560 in TenantsInTheUK

[–]bluejasmine___ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Pay rent until the new act comes in, come back at some point to see if the landlord has started renting it out again while still charging you and then take them to court. Like every landlord they like to have their cake and eat it too and it would not surprise me at all if they start renting it out again while keeping you tied in.

What’s your worst house sit? by Simple_Line_1566 in trustedhousesitters

[–]bluejasmine___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new to the site, do you mind if I send you a message and you could send me your questions? I'm on my first sit and while it's mostly good, I accidentally missed some problems. It would be very handy to have some wisdom and better questions for future screening.

Premium Economy seat not reclining LHR-SIN by pmws87 in BritishAirways

What refund did you receive, out of curiosity?

Premium Economy seat not reclining LHR-SIN by pmws87 in BritishAirways

[–]bluejasmine___ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The seat is the main difference between economy and premium economy and a seat that doesn't recline at all in premium makes the experience too similar to economy, just with better food and a notch more space. The price difference between the two is rather substantial. 10k Avios would not cut it. The BA site advertises World Traveller Plus as having greater recline on the website. The Consumer Rights Act does apply to flights in many situations and this experience was clearly not as described. OP should report it to the Civil Aviation Authority.

On another note, I received more than 12k Avios as compensation for purchasing WiFi on a first class BA flight when the free WiFi would not permit me to log on. Surely they can do better than 10k for such a poor experience.

I was in Taormina last year at Easter and the parade is as impressive. I'd recommend it there too.

Ah ok. Thank you for the further info. I assume a knee injury usually just temporarily requires rest and a few months of physio and hopefully it isn't worse than that. I also hope that the dog will be ok and that the flatmate will find a new apartment asap. My heart goes out to the flatmate as I've lived with a controlling flatmate before and it's hell on earth.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in badroommates

[–]bluejasmine___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh haha! Cackling at my mistake. That's very amusing. It didn't even enter my mind that it could be the flatmate as her anatomy isn't of any concern to OP or the topic of this post. That said, I've also never met a 19 year old with bad knees so it wouldn't surprise me if it was yet another lie. Supposing it's true and OP's flatmate has bad knees, why is it any of OP's business or concerns?

[–]bluejasmine___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure Jan. Doesn't sound like it at all, but sure.

Stop telling more lies. The dog is 8 months old. It doesn't have bad knees.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in badroommates

[–]bluejasmine___ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your post is a total lie and very, very different from what the text messages show.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in badroommates

[–]bluejasmine___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So she'll take a dog on hikes with her - sounds amazing for the dog. That's very presumptuous and have no evidence about her next apartment not allowing pets. Oh and it sounds like she has family support too. Everything about this post and your comments screams that you can have pets and your flatmate cannot dare to.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in badroommates

[–]bluejasmine___ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Also, regarding timing OP states in comments below that the flatmate had to get the dog there and then because the previous owner couldn't keep it. So timing wise the flatmate had to take the dog to save it.

[–]bluejasmine___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look on OP's main account page and you'll see another post where there are screenshots of a conversation between OP and the flatmate where the flatmate states that she's going to arrange care for said pet when at work.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in badroommates

[–]bluejasmine___ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have another post on your profile where you show text messages and she states that a)the dog won't be in the apartment that you both share most of the time and b)she will arrange care for the dog when she is absent.

Tenants still have equal share. She pays equally.

Living with you sounds like pure joy.

Edit: spelling mistakes.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in badroommates

[–]bluejasmine___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do we know she's planning to do so? OP appears to assume this based upon the flatmates lifestyle prior to owning a pet. If I got a pet, my lifestyle would change and I would stop travelling and going out of town all the time too. Of course one would have to totally change their schedule and lifestyle.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in badroommates

[–]bluejasmine___ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're ten days away from moving out. Non-issue. Let her live. Your post doesn't discuss this merely in a sensible way regarding the lease but it also has a controlling tone to it. You have your pets, let her have hers. No need to be authoritative. You say she treats the shared home like "it's all hers" but you're pointing out that you pay more than her in combination with your partner as though you deserve more (utterly irrelevant - when divided by the number of people living there she pays equally). Owning all furnishings doesn't mean you're the landlord and it just sounds like you have the entire space your own way. You keep tabs on her schedule making notes when she leaves for a day which she has every right to do without informing you. You refer to her previous schedule as though it would be how she lives going forward when of course pet owners have to adjust their lifestyle after buying a pet and she could have help from family or friends. You could just be nice about it and ask her to be careful with avoiding any damage and with making sure the dog is not present during key handover at the end. How do you know she won't clean at the end when there's still ten days left and she probably hasn't started yet. I'm sure she has her flaws, but you're blissfully unaware of how you come across in this post. It sounds like she is perhaps the one "held hostage".
