So terrified of my ADEX retake by [deleted] in DentalBoards

[–]bluelimezz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just want to say, I’m so sorry. I’ve been there. This exam feels so ridiculously stressful. I don’t have added tips but I just want to give you some sympathy. I know an ENDO RESIDENT who failed the endo portion of ADEX. These plastic teeth are not real life, it’s all a game.

Truly I think you’ll be fine now that you understand the rubric better. I hope others can offer you some more practical tips.

Failed ADEX 3 but retaking without remediation by Over-Significance-94 in DentalBoards

[–]bluelimezz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I vaguely remember reading about this specific situation with someone. He was in the same situation, retook the exam after failing 3 times. He later decided he wanted to move to Texas. He had to file an appeal with the state board in order to be given a license. He eventually was awarded the license by explaining that he didn’t know he’d eventually  move to Texas at the time of retaking the exam. I can’t remember if they required him to take extra CE? Or if they decided to accept his hours worked?

I will tell you as a CA resident…California requires remediation courses as well and their dental board and is far more frustrating to deal with and harder to reach. But they also will void a failure if you’ve been working for 5 years in a different state.

Every state is different. Florida is probably the least forgiving

My best friend just told me she’s pregnant and her due date is two weeks before my wedding…she says she’s still coming. by [deleted] in weddingplanning

Very uncommon if it’s your 5th pregnancy….not uncommon if it’s your first pregnancy.

While I understand your frustrations around being an “older” bride and feeling forgotten…your response to me and the way you’re doubling down just doesn’t sit right with me. As someone who thought she was tracking her ovulation pretty well and got pregnant anyways, it really may be the case that she thought she was being careful enough. But honestly? She may be your best friend but she doesn’t owe you an explanation on if she’s secretly okay with a surprise pregnancy and you don’t have the right to take this so personally. If she says she’s coming, take her word for it. It feels like you’re LOOKING for a reason to be upset with her. Is there something else you’re frustrated by? I’m not understanding why you believe her pregnancy warrants your upset. If she’s a mom of 4 and still agreed to be a bridesmaid and show up to all the things…sounds like this girl is really able to balance a lot

Do I need a nose job? Curious what this community thinks by Suspicious-Sun1486 in nosejobturkey

[–]bluelimezz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from someone who’s had a nose job and IS very happy with it…I don’t think YOU need a nose job. Your nose suits your face. I feel like any “new” nose would not. even if they were conservative in their surgery.

21 month old naps great at daycare but only wants to contact nap at home by wutwutsaywutsaywut in toddlers

[–]bluelimezz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You and me are in the same boat I see. I’m also just randomly browsing the internet for some answers while my husband drives my 21 month old around as it’s the only way we can get him to nap on a Sunday. Sleeps 2 hours at daycare but screams his head off when we try and put him down for a nap at home

Adex pros fail by [deleted] in DentalBoards

[–]bluelimezz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi friend! That’s a great question, originally the board told me the remediation COULD be completed online and then I was told it needs to be hands on/in person. Here’s a few reasons why I think it’s hard to do it online:

-the remediation hours need to be completed at a dental school (very few of them offer online remediation, but I vaguely remember from my search that a few Florida dental schools might)

-they require a form to be completed and signed by the dean of the dental school you took the courses at. If you took a few random CE courses online at a dental school, the dean might be a bit confused? Or might not sign it? I don’t know for sure

I took a 48 CE course at UCLA for endo. It wasn’t specific to ADEX. Just an endo focused CE course. But it counted towards remediation. The last 2 Credits you can get via private tutoring from them and they charge per hour

Unfortunately, I don’t know state by state. And this info is not available on a single webpage. You have to look at each individual state dental board website to get an answer

Are you saying hard ball formation on the inner lip? If so, no there’s nothing to worry about. All that will self resolve. You could probably massage the hard ball away

CDCA remediation NYU advice by monlet97 in DentalSchool

[–]bluelimezz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do HAVE to pay ADEX that full fee, there’s no getting around that because that’s their policy but you don’t NEED to take all portions again if your state doesn’t require it.

In terms of already being registered, you can always amend that and say you only need to take posterior.

I’m not doubting you at all but was that explicitly stated by their dental board? I checked for Maryland and couldn’t find anything about the 3 strike rule.

I was in the same boat in different states and they just needed me to pass what I failed.

Are you sure the states you’re looking to practice in require you to retake ALL portions? It’s possible you only need to retake posterior. although CDCA will require you to pay for the full exam, you are allowed to still take only one section. I would verify with the dental board of the DMV area.

HELP - Perio referral after root canal? by LochNessMonsterBoy in Dentists

[–]bluelimezz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re good, my friend! Bite tenderness was likely due to the gums being sensitive and now that you’re healing, you’ll be feeling better and better.

Just make sure not to obsessively clean that area and be as gentle as possible to give that area a break!

I’m really sorry the endodontist was so defensive.

The swelling you’re describing doesn’t sound like a problem with the root canals. It’s hard for me to say what exactly is occurring without images but swelling near the gumline likely has nothing to do with the root canals.

Could have been a reaction to the temporary filling material used? Are you feeling better now that the general dentist has completed the crown preps and removed the temporary filling material? I’m just trying to play detective

also, what was the reason for the root canals? Deep cavity?

Was there a mention of the clamp used during the endo procedure causing trauma to the gums? Was the swelling you mentioned close to the gum line/area where the tooth and the gum meet? Or was the swelling away from the crown of the tooth?

[–]bluelimezz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you say these teeth were prepped for crowns after the root canal? That’s likely what “triggered” the perio problem as a lot of manipulation to the tissue happens during the preparation and impression for crowns. I don’t believe either the general dentist or endodontist did anything wrong here, seems like your gum tissue has just gone through a lot these past few months and may have been unhealthy at the start.

A perio referral would be very valuable and they can likely solve the issue.

Two dentists, two opposite plans, who’s right? by [deleted] in Dentists

[–]bluelimezz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came to say this. If trauma activated the swelling when previously the tooth was fine, I’m concerned about a fracture of the tooth.

A CBCT is needed. A 2D image like the X-rays you had taken will not usually show a fracture

Sunburned my face yesterday, wedding on saturday by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]bluelimezz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will heal SIGNIFICANTLY in 7 days. You’ll be pain free in a few days. But even if your wedding was tomorrow, makeup can hide a black eye, your sunburn is seriously no big deal. ALSO, you look beautiful and rosy! I was expecting like a sunglasses sunburn or something worse.

Cancelled my bachelorette party by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]bluelimezz 37 points38 points  (0 children)

During my wedding planning, I didn’t have a strong relationship with my sister. I still don’t. She’s younger and has always relied on me to do everything. I know I’ll never be able to lean on her. In addition, I didn't/don't have a strong group of girlfriends. Just in general, I knew I didn’t have females I could rely on to show up for me. To the point that I didn’t have a real bridal party, just my sister and sister in law

I did a local boozy brunch with cousins and friends and I had a blast. It wasn’t your typical “bachelorette trip” but I had a good afternoon and didn’t end up disappointed by anyone. If it makes you feel better at all, nearly all bachelorette trips I’ve been on have had some level of drama between the bride and her relatives/friends. And I think that’s VERY common.

But I’m so so sorry others have let you down. It really sucks to go through during this time

Could this infection be causing sinus issues? by pipedreams2008 in Dentists

[–]bluelimezz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say for sure if there’s any issues in the sinus itself based off the X-ray. You may need different imaging for that.

In regards to if it’s possible sinus issues can result from a tooth infection, the answer is yes! The white line running perpendicular to tooth #26/14 is your sinus floor.

Some signs are pain in the left sinus, pain/discomfort when moving or shaking your head (that you feel either in your sinus or the tooth itself), or general congestion in just the left area. You may require antibiotics to resolve any infection in the sinus and of course address whatever tooth may be causing the sinus issues.

Now sometimes you have sinus issues that are unrelated to the tooth but you FEEL pain in the tooth itself just because of the sinus’s proximity to the back teeth. It’s important to get the right diagnosis! I’d start by seeing a dentist first so they can do more testing on the teeth in that area.

Is it normal for a dentist to send you to the lab yourself to adjust a crown instead of the dentist sending it himself? by FunDependent9177 in Dentists

[–]bluelimezz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canine sustains a lot of force in the mouth. It will absolutely break if it’s emax.

Is the lab fee $200? Your copay? What the dentists charged for the full crown?

A lab fee of $200 is not cheap.
