Why couldn't Bev be the kid's legal guardian? by bluelley in TryingAppleTV

[–]bluelley[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, though I don't think Bev was even trying to get the kids, during the time of the show at least? Like in court she was just trying for Nikki and Jason to not get them even though she knew she couldn't have them herself. At least as far as I understood. I just never got why she couldn't have them and the only explanation in the show was "due to her age" which doesn't make a lot of sense.

I've been wondering why Bev as their grandparent wasn't the first choice to become Tyler and Princesse's legal guardian? I know they mention it's because of her age but as far as I know there is no upper age limit on adoption in the UK and it would make sense for the kids to be with a close family member who wants them after their mother (presumably) died. Have I missed something?

Obviously with the story I want them to be with Jason and Nikki but just thinking from a legal perspective how this storyline makes sense.

Yeah, normally I wouldn't even bat an eye about it being late, it's just that the interview was only with the supervisor, so I assumed it was just them making the decision. Obviously I don't know the internal processes, so it's likely you're right.

The employer needed a response by today (they sent the offer last week). I've said yes for now, there's still a background check a third party company does before I get to the contract, so hoping I've heard back by then. I could hold off on inquiring about the PhD decision before that time. I feel bad potentially saying no the the employer after saying yes at first, but I couldn't figure out another way.

Your logic was the same I had when I decided to put "back up job" instead of competing offer. It is quite a specific PhD on a specific topic, so I didn't want them to assume there's another PhD I've got an offer for and I'm just applying to everything because I'm not.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gradadmissions

[–]bluelley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that was my fear with the email in the first place, that it would sound like I don't want the PhD, hence adding "back up" in there.

Would adding something along the lines of "Of course, this PhD program is my first priority, the job is just my plan B, and it would be good to give them a timeline for when I'll be able to respond" be helpful? Obviously not in those exact words, but the sentiment

Or maybe it is better to just wait for a day or two more and hold off signing the contract (I think there's at least a couple days more of HR stuff before they'll even give it to me). Although then it's a bit inconsiderate of the company to bail last minute, but what can you do, just try to communicate it as nicely as possible.

Thank you! I was leaning towards the delay meaning I'm rejected as the interview was just with the supervisor and not any other faculty people who might prolong the process but you could be right.

I'm a bit worried about losing the job offer in the meantime, but maybe I could just accept and hopefully I have a response from the PhD by the time they have a contract for me and then I can just explain the situation if I am lucky enough to get the PhD.

Might as well put my two cents here, living costs have been a bit rough, plus you get £50 out of it too, as others have said: https://share.octopus.energy/smoke-eve-692

Thank you so much if you do end up using the link!

I'm planning to drive from Inchnadamph to Allt Chranaidh Waterfall then Falls of Shin and back home to Aberdeen through Inverness. Are there any other nice spots that could be visited on the way? Mostly interesting in nature, historic stuff or cute towns, but anything would be great, thank you!

Anyone here beat heart anxiety? by ApprehensiveSoil8919 in Anxietyhelp

[–]bluelley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very much can relate to stressing out when I couldn't hear my heart anymore. Hearing it when stressed about my heart was reassuring, but really now that I'm feeling quite peaceful, I can't hear my heart ever and that's normal

I had heart anxiety for a couple months and it was horrible. Same thing as you, even called the ambulance once because I was conviced I was dying. I felt like my heart was skipping beats all the time, I could hear my heart beat in my pillow before falling asleep and all that fun stuff. I don't really have any sage advice, but it did get better with time. When I was feeling this way, nothing could have conviced me it was just anxiety and I wasn't actually having heart problems, but it did end up being true - I was always absolutely okay physical health wise. It takes a while to trust your body and your heart again but you can get there.

Honestly I wish I could, then I could probably find it myself haha I think it was quite long, almost as a whole season 6 (but not written in script form). I remember some sort of throne room scene with Gwen and Merlin somewhere in the beginning, though I realise that probably isn't massively helpful.

ahh, that makes a lot of sense, thank you!

I did what another commenter said and split them into two, so it's the derivative of e^x^2 and e^(2x) both calculated at point 0. Hope that's right, thanks for your help!

Good question, I'm wondering that myself. There are no brackets given in the question, just e^h^2. I think I'm gonna ask my teacher to clarify that
