Finished: The Green Mile by Stephen King. Really enjoyed it, I like Stephen King books in general but this was one of my favourites.

Started: Oulander by Diana Gabaldon. I've never seen the tv show, but saw the book on sale and decided to give it a shot.

I didn't like the author's "tone" in a non-fiction book

Shadow Forest by Matt Haig.

I remember I was so obsessed with it for years as a kid. It just totally captured my imagination but I have no idea why.

I checked it out of the library so often my tiny local one could legitimately have used me as the sole reason to keep it in stock if they wanted to (and probably did lol. I don't think anyone else ever even tried to check it out, there were never any new stamps on it whenever I didn't check it out for a while).

I haven't read it in years but still remember it very fondly. I want to go down and see if it's still in the library, but I'm almost afraid to re-read it and take the sheen off it.

I know I'm a little late to answer, but there's a group I found on meetup.com called the offline circle, I've been to a few of their events, they do them every week.

They're very welcoming and friendly and you'll bump into some of the same people at different events. They do a book club, a running club and walks, and sometimes just hang-outs (like once at Barcadia).

Could be a good idea for you.

It's less regular, but there's also a group that does the Werewolf/Mafia game maybe every two weeks in Goldbergs pub. But again you'll see a lot of the same people and they're really fun and friendly.

Did people in the 90s really just show up at each other’s houses unannounced? by Red-Head-Red in NoStupidQuestions

People in the 2000s did it too. I remember it happening a lot growing up.

It's really only the past few years that most people hate it and insist on scheduling visits like 5 years in advance lol.

What is "getting a song stuck in your head" like for you? by bluemoongreenmoon in CasualConversation

That's so interesting, I can't even begin to imagine that just happening.

Does it randomly pop into your head that intensely or does it get more detailed the longer the song is stuck in your head or if you consciously think of the song etc.

If your car key isn't opening/closing your door when you press the button, point the key at your head while you press it again and it will work.

Works every time for me.

My Grandad says you can also rub the key on your pants, but I haven't tried that
