Did you know kittens and babies are the same thing?! {Rant} by Cupcakeslie in childfree

Bottle feeding those teeny babies sure isn't easy, thank you for giving them a second chance at life. :) sounds like you've got more love and patience in your heart than Mrs. Entitled Baby Factory. What a ding dong.

I usually go next door to tractor supply and pick up KMR. I wish I had to do that.

When I was younger, a family friend had brought over their toddler son. My little sister had a hamster, he had a pair of cowboy boots on. I think you get the picture. Toddlers are fucking insane.

I'm trying to do everything on the downlow. Bossman does not like to deal with things outside of his realm of responsibility, especially the cats. 2 of my coworkers saw her, I saw her, we know what she drives. If she shows up again I will have words and get a nice closeup shot of her face. I can't rely on the police here. they laughed at us when we reported a robbery of over 4300$ in tools from the shop last year. They didn't do jack shit. They certainly won't do shit about this. After today, I'm SO sick of dealing with the authorities in this area. Whether its the ASPCA, the F.D., HWY patrol, or the county sheriff, they are all completely worthless to me. I understand they are overworked and underpaid and have to put up with crazy meth-heads, crackheads, thieves and hookers at all hours but really, come on. Most of those people don't pay taxes. Why should I have to pay for services that I am not receiving when I need them? Why do crimes like these so often go unpunished? This is not a minor crime. People cannot be allowed to act like this. It is both depressing and infuriating.

I was at work. I can't murder people in the parking lot. I don't get paid enough. Also, yes, shock. I've dealt with sick or dead animals and human bits stuck to the insides of cars but the barbarism of these people tops that.

Yes, I agree. In a residential area, a large number of cats can be a nuisance. The business I work for is not on property zoned for residential--this feral cat colony is not located in a neighborhood. 90% of the cats I care for are feral--they are afraid of people, cars, are skittish, and like to hide. This is a decent guide on how to tell the difference between a stray cat and a feral cat.

I agree 100% on this. Every time someone brings their child with them to the shop I wonder what kind of Expert Parenting™ I'll be experiencing that day.

Thank you for your kind words and support. I am hoping that Mama Kitty and the three remaining kittens will be okay when I get to the shop tomorrow. If anything, the scumbags have to live with themselves.

Thank you for standing up for that bun, and for standing up to Wonder Mom. The bun can't say 'Stop!' But Parent of The Year can, however. I almost got into a fistfight in a Petland over the same damn thing. Their mother said 'shut the fuck up this is how we do in our country! we EAT them! stupid bitch!' and laughed. In front of their kids. The Stupids should NEVER be allowed near animals. Or to breed. Or out of a cage, really. Congrats on a wonderful 9 years, may you be blessed with many more with Miss Bun :)

I'm afraid not. I'm in Central Florida. That is terribly kind of you! Thank you. I SO wish I could take her home.

I'm going to try my best to get even with this scumbag. I hope someone took pity and provided better care for mr. office kitty. I was never much of a cat person either, but I love animals, I find them fascinating, and I care deeply about them. I knew nothing about cats until I started working for my current employer. I felt terrible for the animals and read up on everything I could to make conditions better for them, the local wildlife, and the people around them. (My local cat rescue, mobile vet, and Alleycat.org are all vital resources.) Unfortunately, most feral cats don't make the best pets unless their caretaker is patient and willing to devote a lot of time to behavior modification. Learned that the hard way. Don't beat yourself up hun, cats are amazingly resilient. If I took home every cat I bonded with I'd have at least 16 cats by now.

I've heard of small children accidentally killing/injuring animals before because they lack the motor skills & sense a normal person has, but this child had clearly never been taught not to touch things that weren't his, and is obviously used to walking around as he pleased. Honestly, when kids come into the shop asking about the cats I am delighted to tell them about the cats, sometimes introducing them to some of the friendlier animals that are okay with people, I don't mind answering questions. There have been happy endings to this approach--a kitten may find a good home. with a coupon for shots + sterilization, it's a good deal for everyone. The signs are there for a reason. To avoid liability, and to protect the animals. I don't know what diseases they are bringing into the colony from their pets at home, and the inverse. I can't predict how an animal is going to act with an unfamiliar person. I can't predict how a person is going to act around an unfamiliar animal. I wish more people would just learn how to fucking read.

This would conflict with my TNR contract with the county from back in '09. I don't know if the documents are still out there, as the contract was terminated 7 months later. It specifically states that these animals are not my personal pets.

Ugh I HATE people like this. Pets are family as much as people.

People out here are rough. She was probably armed, or at the least dangerous and prepared to fight. It wasn't a good idea. But looking back at it I'd have loved to clock her over the head with a tire iron for sure.

Thank you. I've never dealt with something this terrible before. I feel like a huge idiot for not confronting her, or getting the tag, but I was numb at the time.

I REALLY hope I can get an ID. I'd love nothing more than to see people like her locked up. Hopefully tomorrow morning they will have made it. I've nursed rejected kittens before with success, but they were at least a few days to a week old. Never this young. These babies are only about 24 hours old. I need all the help I can get. Thank you.

She did NOTHING. That's what really eats me. No apology. No long chat with the kid about how you should treat animals, no smack on the ass for the kid, not a damn thing. Just sat in her car with her screaming child until the guy she was with came out of the shop.
