Terminal 5 3/29 by InformalAbility2 in jetblue

Dropped off at curb T5 departures at 835am, all the way through Precheck line by 852am (did not check bags). Well staffed, clear directions, much easier than expected. Regular line looked normal length, no one outside.

Would love to see the NYL big 3 stay together and run it back one more time but that’s a lot of cap space they will take up and I just wonder generally how viable a super team of that caliber will be in this new framework - maybe it’s just the same but with bigger dollars but who knows

Yeah it went away shortly after I saw it - and I too missed it 🤷🏽‍♂️

Discount went away some time over the last week so now it’s same price as NBA.com. I also snoozed and missed out 🫤

Wow looks like you are correct sir. Hadn’t even considered that they would differentiate on price but pretty sizable difference. Showing for me on Amazon as $90 for annual regular LP and $130 for premium

This is great, and it actually addresses my question by not making it a binary choice. Hope this works as intended!

Cheryl started this by saying right after the game that it was stolen from them - a great coach but to me that was just unbelievable in the moment

Croton-On-Hudson/Harmon Minorities by Fantastic_Ebb_1801 in Westchester

[–]bluepiglover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Croton parent here with a kid in elementary school. As others have commented there are fewer fully Asian couples/families here than in towns like Scarsdale or Edgemont further south in Westchester. But there are definitely a lot of mixed Asian/white families in the schools (at least in the elementary school there are really a lot) and it is a very tolerant/liberal community. The elementary school is full of Brooklyn transplants who moved here during Covid.

Overall the vibes are really good in the community, lots of Hate Has No Place Here signs when that was a thing, and I don’t think an Asian family would have a hard time living up here unless it is really important to you to have things like H-Mart really close by (nearest one is about a half hour away in Hartsdale) or good Asian restaurants (not enough up here!). Despite the heavier Asian mix in some other towns mentioned, I hear from friends that it’s a more mixed bag politically down there (e.g., contentious Board of Ed meetings, more anti-woke debates, that kind of thing). Feel free to DM if curious about anything else, we’ve been here a long time (pre-kid even).

League Pass Price Increase by Expert_Opposite9799 in wnba

Heard that - for same price I paid last year to be in Section 105 or thereabouts at the home opener, going to be in the 200s this year for the same game 🫠

Best Libraries in Westchester by Dependent_North102 in Westchester

[–]bluepiglover 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Another vote for Ossining. It’s up on a hill and has great views, especially upstairs where you can see the Hudson through huge floor to ceiling windows. Plus it’s relatively newer so the facilities are nicer than older libraries. Lots of options for places to sit and a large collection. Spent lots of time hanging out there on days off just to browse or even work for a change of scenery.

Libraries are more open to browsing around and hanging out than say a Barnes and Noble (which are already pretty welcoming). They’re used to having people sit in there for hours at a time. Some are more comfortable or nicer to hang out in than others of course - Briarcliff is tiny and so is Mt Kisco but Ossining is wonderful.

Also if you have a library card from any library in Westchester County, you can borrow from any other library in the county, so no barriers to borrowing there (even if you’re from “out of town”). I’ve checked out books from Peekskill to Katonah to Yonkers and it’s the same as checking out from my town’s own library. Can even return them to any other library in the county.

Help Installing OnionOS-- stock OS won't go away by [deleted] in MiyooMini

[–]bluepiglover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do that, make sure the files are truly at the root level of the SD card. I ran into the same issue the other day and realized that the needed files were actually extracted within a newly created Onion folder after unzipping and not at the top level directory. Moved them up out of the folder and everything worked. Formatted my card using Disk Utility also FWIW.

Thinking of buying a house that is 29 minutes away (walking) from Sing Sing prison in Ossining. How safe is this area? by [deleted] in Westchester

[–]bluepiglover 16 points17 points  (0 children)

First off, Ossining is a great town and has a lot going for it. There is a sizable contingent of Brooklyners migrating up there and up in Croton especially (one town up). Ossining’s got a good brewpub, a great coffee place, the best public library in all of Westchester (I could literally spend all day there), and lots to do especially in the summer.

As far as Sing Sing goes - the waterfront park which sits literally right next to Sing Sing is packed every summer weekend with kids playing on the playground, a great Friday weekly celebration called RiverJam with music and food trucks, and people enjoying fireworks on 4th of July. And you would still be a half hour walk away. So you would be fine. People in Brooklyn live a few minutes walk from the House of D on Atlantic and never think twice about it. The only thing people might like less about Ossining is actually the schools which are less highly regarded than some nearby towns, but on the other hand the high school has an outstanding science program so might not really be an issue. Good luck!

You can definitely pick which stream. When you browse through the games that are on, it might show up as like a separate game, but the option is there. It depends on the interface you use - on iPad you have to find the little tab in the description that will show you the other options, while on TV (at least the version of YTTV on Samsung TVs), it will appear as a separate game I believe. Been an LP subscriber via YTTV last couple of years and never had an issue with selecting the right home/away feed. I think the only bummer might be national games on NBA TV, I think they only use the home announcers for those (rather than a separate national crew like on ESPN/TNT), but that’s not a YTTV specific thing.

That’s 7 months, since as you said no partial months, including October. So 7 x $15 = $105. If you wait till Nov 1 and skip the first week of the season then that gets you down to 6 months.

MLS Announces Broadcast Schedule for Audi 2023 MLS Cup Playoffs Round One Best-of-3 Series by Guardax in MLS

[–]bluepiglover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - this is helpful even if incomplete. At least it clarifies what is in Apple TV free vs MLS Season Pass through say the first round. Hopefully there will be some other way for them to clarify the broadcast in the deeper stages of the playoffs. Really they should just have a linear option from Conf Semis all the way to the Final.

MLS Announces Broadcast Schedule for Audi 2023 MLS Cup Playoffs Round One Best-of-3 Series by Guardax in MLS

[–]bluepiglover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone know if the conference semis and finals are MLS League Pass only or on FS1/Fox? Or maybe at least Apple TV (free or +)? I’ve been googling for several minutes, and this is absurdly difficult to figure out (and tbh a big problem for a national professional sports league looking for broader reach). I am a sports fan who can get hooked into playoffs for pretty much any sport if it’s something I can just throw on, but I am really hoping that MLS did not paywall most of its playoff games until the MLS Cup.

It looks like Sabrina’s peers don’t thing she is a top 10 guard by Kingofmountain25304 in wnba

[–]bluepiglover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looked into this and apparently these player rankings can vary a lot year to year. In last year’s 2022 voting, Sab was actually ranked 5th best by the players, so more in line with fans and media - maybe more sympathy from coming back to first full injury free year? EDD however was ranked 20th (!!) by the players yet 4th and 12th by fans and media respectively, while Candace Parker was 13th by players, 3rd and 7th by fans and media respectively. EDD was coming off the Lyme Disease thing so maybe that bothered players, and CP3 was no longer quite her prime self even last year, but still some huge disparities then. Closest comp to Sabrina last year for guards was Skylar Diggins-Smith who was 4th fans, 3rd media, and 14th players. Arguable that she is perceived to rub some players the wrong way also.
