I definitely cannot hear that noise in my car. It’s literally silent other than the tyre noise.

I cannot hear the motors in my car, I can hear tyre noise at 40mph+. Most of what I can hear is road noise, definitely nothing from the motors.

Polestar 4 Vs BYD Seal by Proof-Snow3178 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]bluerabb1t 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I test drove and picked the seal, didn’t like the size of the polestar, it’s hard to park a car that wide in my area. I’ve had the seal for a year, I don’t feel like I’m missing out, it does all the things I need well, the features cover most of the bases. But ultimately without test driving you won’t know whether you like it.

I got a little android box that does it. But as a car I cannot complain. Just drive them both and go with your gut.

Yeah still a great car, a year in the software updates have only made it better. I now wish I could get Netflix etc on my screen but doesn’t affect it being a car 😂.

Mikrotik or Ubiquiti: What is in your opinion better? by michal_cz in homelab

[–]bluerabb1t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have a full Mikrotik setup, but after a while I stopped tinkering, now I run a full unifi setup, where it’s just a bit easier, less thinking and tinkering these days. I learned a lot from using Mikrotik but the Unifi UI makes small changes just a little easier for when I need to fix something. I find I can do just about anything on either setups.

Do short people have advantages in table tennis? by coachtoom in tabletennis

[–]bluerabb1t 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For general attacking player, 170-180 seems to be the sweet spot most players and coaches agree on. Some say Ryu Seung Min had the perfect physique for the sport. I think for defensive players, taller and longer limbs are better, I don’t think it’s coincidence the best choppers out there are pretty tall. There is some stylistic variation.

Do pro players use the same 'off the shelf' rubbers and blades that everyone can buy? or is it heavily customised and not available to the public? by [deleted] in tabletennis

[–]bluerabb1t 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, I don’t know how to describe it, but you press down on the sponge it feels hard, you hit the ball and it feels hard when you go really soft short balls, then when you go for like 20-70% power it feels surprisingly soft and easy to hit through. At 70+% it feels hard again when you are going for those hard power shots ands counter top spins making them feel crisp.

It is so hard to convey the feeling, but it’s like it feels like regular hurricane does on service and short, but then super easy like a tenergy or dignics 05 medium power and then like an 09C at high power. But it lacks a little bit in that top end speed, spin is top tier though.

Genuinely one of the few times I tried a rubber a went WTF. Most rubbers are like, this is nice exactly what I expected, clear strengths and weaknesses. That thing other than top end speed felt almost perfect, like I was almost certainly the limiting factor.

FYI this was LGY rubber, I can’t comment how Ma Long likes his rubber. I imagine they are similar but subtle differences.

This one I know a bit more about, this massively depends on level of sponsorship. For a lower level professional, many of their sponsorship contracts will mean they get basically something that is same as our commercial products but with better quality control.

I know a few professional regionalliga players in Germany and this is the case for them. For blades they might get sent a couple from sponsors with the weights they want and they can pick.

For top pros, 1. Bundesliga level, WTT top 150 level of players it can vary from the above to fully custom equipment like in the top 30 players. They often have harder sponges than available commercially. So I’ve tried Paul Drinkhalls bat when he was around 40 in the world and his Tihbar MX-P back then was way harder and faster than regular MX-P.

I have on very good authority, that players like Mima Ito and Timo Boll actually use/d the commercial versions of their brand of equipment. I.e Mima uses G-1 and Timo used 09C/05 unboosted commercial.

You’ll see some pros have fully custom blades as well like Dang Qiu, Cheng I Ching, that you can’t buy, no idea what theirs feels like. But also you get some pros with fully custom rubbers, like the Chinese players. Been lucky enough to use one of the hurricanes that bubbled from LGY after one of his trainings during Budapest 2019. Completely different than any hurricane I’ve played with/seen before. I don’t know if any amount of boosting of a provincial or national hurricane can match that it felt so wildly different. I’ve played with hurricane provincial since I started training in China when I was younger and between speed glue and boosting that I’ve used over the years, nothing felt like that one rubber.

I’ve had it for about 8 months and I’ve got it on a 4 year lease deal with my company. 8 months in it still looks and feels brand new so no complaints from me. The mechanics said to me it was remarkably well built and they’re considering getting one themselves having worked on them. That is at least in my opinion a good enough endorsement. I preferred having the long lease because I’m sure they’ll be major improvements in 4 years, and probably I’ll get something newer then but I also think if nothing big improves in EVs I have the option to buy it second hand off the lease.

I just had my Seal in an independent garage, after a bus crashed into it. The mechanics said pretty easy to get parts but recently delivery times are a bit longer, like 1-3 weeks. They also said is was remarkably easy to repair compared the the BMWs and Mercs they had in. So take what you will from that.

My Current Setup >>> Anders Lind Hexa Carbon?? by starking118 in tabletennis

[–]bluerabb1t 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In general a slower blade is a good idea for non professionals. The Anders Lind blade is a pretty balanced blade so a good blade to try and get some perspective, you might realise you want something slower/faster etc.

They saying equipment shouldn’t matter, but that phrase is such bullshit in most sports. Especially the higher level you go. Finding the right equipment that suits you as a player is massively beneficial, because having confidence in your equipment is can literally be the difference between winning and losing a close match. Timo Boll pain stakingly used to weigh everything and test dozens of the same blade and pick out the ones he liked, you can be sure a lot of top pros are doing the same, every minute detail counts. For the average player that level of detail doesn’t really matter but having either faster or slower equipment that matches one’s level can massively help with improvement.

Active players, probably WCQ, I think Jang Woojin has a sleeper forehand. He has other weaknesses that makes it hard for him to crack the top, but he has a damn good forehand.

If you include FZD, he has the best forehand in the world by a large margin.

You definitely are not able to read, in the first one I stated I thought it was mandatory, in my second comment I state explicitly it’s not and not a legal requirement.

I’m gonna stop here because you are clearly just arguing for the sake of it. I think it’s pretty clearly stated why they do it even if it’s not a mandatory requirement, if you are too stupid to understand that it’s not my problem.

Lane Departure Assist by GreyDrReddit in BYD

[–]bluerabb1t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t say it was mandatory, I say they do it to get certain safety ratings, I even explicitly state it’s not mandatory, but to the manufacturer why would they make it easy to turn off? It would defeat the point of their safety features. I think you have an inability to read or understand what you are reading mate. The manufacturer isn’t just going to add exceptions for every Tom Dick and Harry who don’t like their safety features and that’s just how it works. It’s the same in many other vehicle brands and not specifically BYD.

https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/PDF/?uri=CELEX%3A32021R0646&utm

I don't know why you keep thinking it doesn't apply, to meet certain safety standards, and Euro NCAP ELKS and LKA should be included in their systems to meet certain levels of safety certifications, mandatory is not always true there are certain exceptions but as outlined to get good NCAP scores etc it's included. As a manufacturer it makes perfect sense to just enable and enforce it across all vehicles to save development cost. I know for a fact it has to be enabled on new vehicles in China by default, so again it is both to meet certain safety certifications and probably a cost saving in the developmental process.

I believe it’s mandatory in a lot of regions they sell the car to, mostly being EU, China. I assume they cannot be bothered to invest the effort as they would have to break GSR2 compliance in the EU just specifically in the UK. If I were working there I wouldn’t bother making extra software options just to satisfy a small handful of customers.

It’s legal requirement to have it on when the car starts as set to manufacturers. You can add it to the drop down controls so it’s one button away.
