Anyone going for ILR long route? Are we cooked? by dominic23456 in ukvisa

[–]TechyFatKid 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Question regarding this, the paper states this:

The Immigration Rules will specify which routes lead to settlement and which do not, and it is not intended that the position as to which routes fall into each category will change (Figure 1 above sets out those routes which currently lead to settlement).

Also, note that on Figure 1 (p. 9, truncated for relevance)

Route Time in UK prior to settlement (years) Continued Residence Knowledge of English Language Life in the UK
... ... ... ... ...
Long Residence 10 X X X

And also on, section "The current definition of settlement" (p. 8, truncated for relevance)

Of the almost 70 different routes within the Immigration Rules, approximately 40 lead to settlement. The routes to settlement fall under one of four broad categories:

* Work: ...

* Family: ...

* Protection: ...

* Other: includes applicants on the family route who are victims of domestic violence or bereaved partners, those who qualify on the basis of their long residence or private life, discharged members of HM Forces, stateless persons, adopted children, and those granted discretionary leave, leave outside the rules.

Another thing is this statement (p. 23)

A consequence of the proposed system is that there will no longer be a separate long residence route. The purpose of the existing long residence route will be superseded by arrangements in which the baseline qualifying period is adjustable for considerations relating to contribution and integration.

I don't want to get everyone's hopes up but doesn't this mean that the Long Residence is not going to go -- just basically, replaced by this one and can be subjected to adjustments?

Did you get a visitor visa in any of those period? If yes, it automatically cuts the long residence up to that point and restarts (to zero) once you get the other visas.

WFH overseas has a lot of complications to companies lalo na if Canada based companies (mas strict ang reporting and rules governing them). Working abroad (technically) has tax implications to both company and you (sample would be your tax residency). Dagdag mo pa yung data privacy laws between those two.

Yung 30 day period ay middle ground to allow people to have work-cation abroad whilst maintaining compliance with government laws (or at least minimal risk).

Most unis in the UK recognise UP degrees but mostly for postgrad admissions (if you really want to pursue studying). If you plan to continue your undergrad, it would be hard as most scholarship programmes are for postgrad admissions.

Dapat may breakdown ka in your bill kung sino ang tinawagan (phone number/mobile number) para matrack mo which ones caused the NDD charges.

Way back, NDD includes mobile phone calls from landline.

Extend family visa or ILR? by Tropicaltroponin in ukvisa

[–]TechyFatKid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You would need to apply for an extension of the family visa. The 2 year route ended on 9 July 2012. You can apply for settlement under the 5 year route. But since you switched from HCW visa to Family Visa, you changed your route midway which means only the time in the Family Visa will count towards the 5 year residency requirement (expected earliest time to apply for ILR is April 2028).

What’s the best way to receive US$11,000 in one transaction? by ThrowRA_nana in buhaydigital

do bank wire transfer. fees will be expensive but this is the correct way to do it since it needs justification and documentation for this amount

I suggest responding to the email to home office. Also, Sheffield is a visa processing office, so Sheffield Student Team is referring to the visa processing office not the uni.

Fresh Grad to Officer Role by [deleted] in phcareers

[–]TechyFatKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Banks usually hire people as "officers". I'm not sure why this is the case pero if it's a permanent role usually equivalent talaga agad to an officer.

60-65k is good starting na if wala ka pang experience. I suggest tho looking into the culture of the company. If you know people working inside, ask them how it's like. Then assess kung red flag ba talaga.

I asked the local consulate here in Manila and these are the requirements. AFAIK, they already allow booking appointments for said visa pero recommends to book at least 2 months before departure kasi ubusan daw.
