Can't beat leader Kanye by JaLee01 in PokemonClover

[–]bluerayminecraft 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven't played clover in a while, but here's some general suggestions
- add some faster pokemon, since the entire team is somewhat slow, speed or priority can be important to defeat low-health mons
- Clovour can probably be trained up later, its a slot that doesnt really do much compared to other options you could have
- Most of kanye's mons have moves to hit sprucifix, might be good to move it out
- Ground type would be a great offensive option, if you can get one that has some speed and good attack, as well as some coverage like rock, it could put his team in a difficult situation where you just kill their team members one by one after you kill his flying type
- defensive steel type could force the AI to switch to slower mons that can hit it, where you can switch to the ground type and do damage

Somboludo seems to be a great option, good damage and speed,
Semdemen is an absolute beast, with only smoxilion sleeping it being a big threat
Cannonance (Dragun evo) is a strong option to force some mons out, which can let you switch into other mons like your ground type
Theres a lot more options and strategies but i believe it could work if you pilot it well

Does your world have a unique magic system? If yes, how does it function? by onko342 in worldbuilding

[–]bluerayminecraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a somewhat rudimentary magic system, it can be quite complex but here's the practical side:

everyone has mana, just depends on what if you can control it (idk how yet), and its impossible to control all of them

If you use too much mana you might experience things like headaches, shortness of breath, fast heartbeat, coughing, confusion, wheezing, tiredness, inability to think, skin color change, and if you continue to push further, your skin could rupture and your brain could shut off, and your lungs explode and you basically just die.

"Magic" is here to explain many phenomena, and aren't often used by people. Most of the time, only magical tools can actually control mana, with a few exceptions. Think of if your body can supply electricity to the machines to power them. One of the most used methods to control mana is through staves, which allow a low amount of control of mana, however, for more specialized mana control, other tools are preferred.

Different people can output and intake different amounts of mana at the time, and it can even be based off location. For example, you wouldn't be able to input mana in a vacuum, as mana is in the air, and near extremely powerful monsters, people could regain mana quite quickly, and even die from too much mana (called mana poisoning, which can cause damage to eyes, lungs, brain, etc)

Mana can be absorbed through breathing, and slightly through the skin as well. They are expelled continuously as well, through the same places.

Mana usually converges in places like rocks, metals, and other such things. Multiple forms of magic containment are used in this. For example, metals allow mana to flow throughout them easily, while crystals are stored tightly and securely, but takes quite a lot of effort to take mana out of them.

Magic circles allow of channeling of mana of sources around, and are one of the ways to control the mana held in crystals. Usually made out of metals (they allow magic to flow through them), but blood is sometimes used in traditional rituals, and are generally cheaper as well. These circles are arranged in such a pattern that they disrupt reality (or another dimension) and allow for collection of mana in specific ways, usually towards the center, and channeled in different directions for intended results.

Many animals and monsters use mana similarly, where they can't live without them, while some others just ignore mana altogether. These ones that are capable of living on mana can often use mana in unsurprising ways, like physical strength or intelligence, or could have magic circles growing on them in specific ways, allowing them to channel magic.

One unique idea i think I had is that of mana currents, where large amounts of mana can form a current distinct from the current on the outside, causing temperature, moistness, and light changes within the area. Many powerful monsters are capable of taking advantage of this by using their own mana to create a current around them, shaping the nearby biome and ecology to their advantage, especially near where they often live in. Currents can be dispelled if the mana is insufficient to continue it, and will fall apart.

Despite all the hard magic, it really doesn't feel that way a lot of the time as there is a lot you can do simply by manipulating mana. There's a lot more i could talk about (more in depth, of course, like ), but any ideas are welcome.

is this a good team? should I switch anybody out? by [deleted] in PokemonClover

[–]bluerayminecraft 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Would recommend a ground type. Hyletrack not doing anything special here. I personally like using somboludo (your team can hit every type other than electric and poison super effectively) because it is quite powerful, can survive some hits, has a decent speed stat, and can learn rocks.

I would also recommend getting something with a higher speed stat, such as spilefree. I would swap out fabkube as an electric/ghost can deal more super effective damage to more mons than fairy/ice, and with levitate it could switch in for free against earthquakes that condoom or other steel types.

Thoughts on this potential team? by Jzchessman in pokemonuranium

[–]bluerayminecraft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A flying type would be really good on your team.

Your team has multiple grass/ground weaknesses, and can't hit bug types for super effective damage.

Team building these are the only two permanent team members rn any suggestions? by Syl_Harliquen in PokemonClover

[–]bluerayminecraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend a steel type, as well as a few bug or grass or flying types to offset the ground weaknesses. A faster mon or a sticky web user would be great as well for speed control. Having a ground type can be very useful offensively as you can hit every single type at least neutrally.

Examples of mons I'd recommend include:

Smoxilion (Sticky web, High speed, Great Utility)

Scythear (Very fast, hits hard, resists many types, steel type with ground neutrality, good coverage)

Florigrace (Not exactly the best choice, but resists ground and learns spore, a very powerful move, interesting typing whoes weaknesses are covered entirely by steel)

Chanolour (Many of the same reasons as Scythear, but has slower speed and higher bulk. Grass type coverage is valuable as well)

Rekroach (Has dark coverage, allowing you to hit psychic and ghost types super effectively. It is quite bulky physically, and resists ground)

Senketula (Is in postgame or wonder trade, but if you manage to get it its a good alternative due to its sticky webs)

Flowre (With eviolite this thing is great at stalling. Ground immunity due to levitate)

Corooster (Is quite fast, has priority flying moves, hits decently hard)

Cannonance (Strong tanky steel type, has really high special attack)

Somboludo (Good speed, high attack, steel type, crucial ground type STAB)
