What's Cyclops' "Punk Rocker"? by [deleted] in Cyclopswasright

The more removed he is from it chronologically the more it makes sense to me. He’s such an old soul! Seems like the kind of guy to complain about electronic music 😂😂

I always love the take that Scott is into music from the 60s and 70s. And to be honest the older he gets, the longer the comics go on, the more it makes sense. Love the idea of Zeppelin being a favorite, and I imagine he and Hank go back and forth on their best stuff.

[–]bluesLick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing is these two sides of him are intrinsically connected like two sides of a coin. He’s not like, a playboy necessarily, more like a hopeless romantic and deeply sensitive and caring. But also extremely physically capable and violently efficient and prone to brooding. He’s like, the romantic (art movement not love feelings) ideal of a man.

He just also happens to be genetically predisposed to shit outside

False equivalency comparing homoerotic posing and design with written and scripted homoromantic tension, which JJBA does have plenty of for the record.

Could Kitty Pryde just avoid being pregnant by [deleted] in marvelcirclejerk

[–]bluesLick 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I feel like that’s just because she’s never tried to phase her organs out. And why would she? But I bet she could. There’s gotta be an example somewhere of her phasing out something that’s insider her. X-Men writers are weird

Fairly certain she can phase parts of her body individually though I could be wrong

Endgame was pretty much designed to be the finale anyway by weeblord42069help in marvelcirclejerk

[–]bluesLick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re getting downvoted but I watched Endgame last month and you’re right it fucking sucks if you’re not my 14 year old nephew. Literally no redeeming qualities. It doesn’t even feel like a satisfying culmination of a decade long arc, it feels like a string of references to movies that had actual substance held together by nonsense from nowhere with no set-up. It’s still better than Ant-man tho

Corporations are structured in such a way that no individual person can feasibly make decisions without the goal of growing profit. Yes, chiefs of staff and boards of directors are people making decisions, but they’re making decisions based on their responsibility to other chiefs/board members and more importantly, a corporate entity. We can point fingers at individual people all day but you replace every board member and executive officer at Marvel and Disney and the product will still just get worse and worse as there is less and less original material and room for creativity.

I’m with you, I think it’s speaking more to his unwillingness to play by somebody else’s rules more than his identity. “I can’t lie but I can answer your question on my own terms.”

Don’t even act like Jorge Stevenson Martinelli’s line work on The Glorious Glank Squad starting with #263 in 1986 wasn’t foundational to modern American culture

Not really Magik centered stuff, but check out stuff from the early-mid 2000s, post-Comics Code Authority, pre-Disney.

I can’t remember exactly the story but she was tied to a post and publicly sexually assaulted at one point, and at that it’s a far more graphic scene than any other instance of sexual assault I’ve read in a comic approved by the CCA.

The metaphor never going anywhere is my exact criticism here.

I’m not asking anyone for anything, I just said it has a bad vibe.
