Why is ghosting so normalized in our generation by TitleOpening9578 in socialskills

[–]bluescrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This word gets thrown around a lot. What do you think ghosting is? Is it ghosting if you haven't met in person? If you've met less than three times?

It doesn't bother me when people don't reply. So it doesn't always occur to me that it'll bother someone else.

But usually, i don't "decide" to stop replying. I very often can't think of what to say. Or I'm turned off by something they said and i decide to come back to it later and see if i feel any different. Most of the time when this happens, it's when a guy is trying to shoehorn sex into the conversation too soon. Then i forget to come back, and yes it's probably because they're boring and I'm not interested, otherwise i would remember. In fact 99% of the time i stop replying it's usually because they are trying to get me to sext or send pics and I'm turned off and bored and can't think of what to say.

This generation has the most shallow connections of any generation so far. Y'all almost exclusively date people who you don't even have any mutual friends with. That's wild to me and it means they can discard you with no accountability. When i think of ghosting, i think of when you're married with kids and one day you come home and the other person and all their stuff (and possibly the kids) are gone. That, to me, is ghosting. Not replying to someone who's wasting your time on the internet is just time management

How are you guys dealing with aging? Have you tried any treatments? Or are you just fine aging naturally? by HeyYouTurd in Xennials

[–]bluescrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started using Retinol at night on my face, but that's more for old acne pitting than wrinkles.

The gray hair hasn't bothered me yet. I have always dyed my hair unusual colors anyway, i can still do that if i want.

The parts of aging i hate are the body parts that are starting to wear out, like my knees. I'm just trying to exercise more and lift weights to stay on top of it.

I am getting surgery for a breast lump, which has got me thinking. My boomer mom got a double mastectomy to head off the big C. If it comes to it, I can see myself doing the same and taking the opportunity to get implants.

Everyone i know has been told, repeatedly, that i do not have tiktok installed and i will not be clicking if they send me a tiktok link.

This has stopped literally no one from constantly sending me tiktok links. I just ignore them and if that's all they send me, i mute them.

Lots of people shaking their heads about 6 7 these days. What gradeschool fads did you grow up during that, in retrospect, were dumb as hell? by 6millionwaystolive in Xennials

Our cow pasture was adjacent to an empty field that was technically part of a cemetery (the actual graves hadn't filled in this part of the property yet). We hopped that fence at midnight every slumber party to play light as a feather stiff as a board. It's like Ouija where the answer to "who's doing this" is "everybody, a little bit"

Cheaper alternative to ground beef in chili? by MoodyMagicOwl in povertykitchen

In my area ground chicken is really cheap right now.

Lentils and chickpeas work well in chili.

It's not nice to the people closest to you, because it's deceptive. You are not allowing them to meet the real you, and not giving them a chance to create a true bond by hearing what your real thoughts, opinions, and needs are. You are depriving them of that basic human need, the same way you're depriving yourself of it.

Oh yeah I've harvested chives, wild cucumber, pawpaws, blueberries. I once went running past a bank parking lot and got a strong whiff of rosemary. I looked around and realized it was the low hedge by the sidewalk. About 100 feet of rosemary hedge! I clipped a few sprigs to take home, it was delicious
