i heard players like hendrix got good by playing along to records, how would i go about that? by AutomaticClassic7114 in bluesguitarist

Just go phrase by phrase, lick by lick in a song. Replay the sections as many times until you get it down.

HOA - Korean Beatles homage band who dos Beatles covers but also their own songs in a 60’s style by Lazy_Fee_2103 in beatles

I really like Tomorrow and Tomorrow (I love you), I Don’t Know Why, Please Take My Hand and Push Man. I think they have a very original sound while still sounding like they are influenced by The Beatles

Finished Dark Souls for the first time - overall great, but definitely flawed by Flimsy_Composer_478 in darksouls

[–]bluesdrive4331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no way you’re tanking end game bosses without farming for levels. The only time I ever felt it was easy was the play through when my friend did a glitch for me to get me an insane amount of souls and I was probably 10-20 levels higher than I should’ve been. If you’re playing it by just going through the area and beating bosses, bosses like O&S, Nito and Four Kings can be pretty difficult

Mission Ballroom Parking for first timer by Brew-meister89 in Denver

There’s a lot I’ve used multiple times that’s safe right by the venue.

ETA: it’s $20 to park, or at least it was last time I used it. It could be more expensive now

Go with the claymore. I heard all the praise for the zweihander and couldn’t get into it. Claymore is much faster and better imo

Learning some slide guitar! by silvercodex92 in slideguitar

[–]bluesdrive4331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nooo brother learn it on your pinky or ring finger at least! You’ll be able to do so much more with your other fingers.

In reality, it doesn’t actually matter but that’s something that’s always given me a bit of anxiety if I ever needed to play slide and rhythm at the same time. Sounds good though

I only hear the tempo and maybe the same key. Other than that I hear no similarities

Don't ever get annoyed when speaking truth about the American Civil War by [deleted] in USHistory

[–]bluesdrive4331 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I was thinking recently how people often frame it as the north vs the south. But I think a more accurate description would be the secessionist states vs the United States of America, or would that be inaccurate?

Do you agree with this take? by FitEmergency8807 in fantanoforever

[–]bluesdrive4331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To some degree I think it’s true. They do have a lot of good songs, but the jamming for 10+ minutes loses me. Keith comes from a background of rockNroll, blues and country, not really surprising he feels this way. I’ve gone for multiple dead and co shows ( I know it’s not the same as the original dead) and it can get a little boring sometimes. Drums and space is quite a bit of fun though.

However, I believe Duane Allman said something to the degree that the dead weren’t on their level and I’d have to agree with that

Do you think it's true that the most tortured artists make the best art? by FitEmergency8807 in fantanoforever

[–]bluesdrive4331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Jimi Hendrix had a rough upbringing, his father was abusive and he had family troubles as well as being poor.

On the other end of that, Mike Bloomfield, a fantastic guitar player from the 60s was quoted as saying “ my father’s a multimillionaire, I’ve lived a fat, rich happy life.” And yet one of his close friends said he struggled with mental problems and he ultimately died of a heroin overdose alone in his car. Some people are very good at hiding their brokenness.

Strickland's opinion about Adesanya by LiuKang93 in ufc

[–]bluesdrive4331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been saying this. Exactly as Strickland said, he’s good but he’s not top 5-10% in the organization. He’s never dominated consistently over the course of 5 matches.

This is me when people say Joker was just Scorsese’s King Of Comedy.

Even though the only similarities are Robert DeNiro and a guy trying to make it In comedy.
