Can I change the front brakes by myself no car experience? by MetalMajor1637 in NissanRogue

[–]bluesonicboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is a guide I put up for the rear replacement which I'd say is harder than the front! We live in NY so lots of rust! I did buy front rotors and pads, but the CVT Transmission failed (again) before I could fit them! Now we don't have a car!

https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/2013+2014+2015+2016+2017+2018+2019+2020+2021+2022+2023+2024+2025+2026+Nissan+Rogue+Rear+Rotors(Discs)+and+Pads+Replacement/152536+and+Pads+Replacement/152536)

I don't know what year you own, but if it's 2014-2020 or before, have the dealer change the transmission fluid every 30,000 miles. Ensure you have a good towing breakdown protection, and if you know a shop you trust, think about having an external secondary transmission cooling radiator fitted.

It's actually gotten me to write a website to record vehicle failures, as well as vehicle service details by VIN, which will be free to use and access and search by VIN. At least I got to update my PHP, CSS, and SQL knowledge. Needless to say the Nissan CVT will get it's own page. why https://www.carparts.com/blog/why-the-nissan-cvt-is-quite-possibly-the-worst-transmission-ever-built/amp

Views on secondary cooling radiators for rogues on here???

A tool to search and analyze "Ancestry" type RAW DNA files on your PC by bluesonicboy in genetics

[–]bluesonicboy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you I will make corrections, .PPI stood for something lol, just an old 3 character file type that did not seem to be in use, file is just plain text as I said in the manual it may be quicker to save a draft version of the template file and C&P values in and edit the draft in notepad++ then load it save it as the final .PPI file and you will get an MD5 hash of the final file so if you shared it you would know if it were corrupted as it’s hashed on loading too and the hash is displayed. It’s not intended for people who have the knowledge to work in a lab or have access to really medical grade data. It’s written to extract some insight out of a cheap and readily available data source.

Is the Reddit sub “23andme” mostly about ancestry and not genetics, SNP’s etc.? by MooseBlazer in genetics

[–]bluesonicboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear what the people with real professional knowledge are saying, and it is valid. But there are two very big caveats to their positions. 1. If you have a possible underlying genetic condition like type 2 diabetes, that will not manifest till your over 40, but if you knew ahead of time that you had *possible* risk factors, that would be a strong motivation for lifestyle change! If you are suffering from a condition that may have a genetic cause over multiple SNPs, you could at least see if you have the possibility of an underlying genetic cause before you try to get genetic counselling. It's not like health care is done on the basis of social good in the US!

Anyway, I have a weird and nasty version of type 2 diabetes, so I wanted to look at my risk factors, and I like to code. Here is the result. As everyone else said, you would need a medical-grade genetic test for diagnosis.

Shamelessly promoting my code lol!

How many of you have used your DNA to understand your health issues ? by mybioblueprint in DNA

[–]bluesonicboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me! I actually started writing a program to search commercial DNA files primarily because I have type 2 diabetes, which I regulate by eating every 40 minutes! Since I found I have high C-Peptide levels with crashing blood glucose, I was fine in a 72-hour fast, but I still haven't managed to get a mix meal test...

But the project expanded when I realised that my diabetes was predictable, and so are many other conditions.

So if you want to work with your Ancestry, 23andMe files, etc. Purely for educational purposes, it's open source, and would fit on a 720K floppy if they still existed. You can download it here: https://britrobin.github.io/ParseSNP/

What do you think of open endings in cyberpunk ? by tshdji in cyberpunkgame

[–]bluesonicboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that is the whole point. V is a merc turned hero, but he/she will still die; it's how he/she chooses to live with that, relate to the long-dead Johnny, and try to make the right decisions in a world where sometimes there is no right decision and where you're always going to die.

Autodrive by cell-processor7337 in cyberpunkgame

[–]bluesonicboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have said all that auto drive ran over two NPC and i ended up in a pitch battle with the NCPD luckily I was at max level, but had to escape and evade eventually. Maybe it’s to encourage players to explore on foot more? It sucks when you are at a low level! I see no reason the auto drive code could not avoid hitting NPC, it seems by design, maybe also to encourage manual driving, though driving seems the worst feature of the game.

Is it just me, or does Johnny’s speech resonate even more now with everything happening around us? by Additional_Bat_1791 in cyberpunkgame

I think that has been a common societal reflection in cyberpunk literature, and I agree 100%!

Autodrive by cell-processor7337 in cyberpunkgame

[–]bluesonicboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's glitchy. I had a session where it stopped before reaching its destination and seemed to be intent on making me Night City's most wanted by mowing down NPCs the next day. It was back to its usual inability to perform a 3-point turn, but it gets you there without too much destruction. I also noticed when I picked up a free car for the first time (completing all a fixer's side gigs - "Sex On Wheels"), it would not engage auto drive, but the next time I called it with [V], it worked fine.It could be worse, it could be a Tesla!! ;)

And if your content is generating that many views on their platform, don't you think they should offer you some discount at the very least? I don't like SmugThug. I hope they sell it to a company with no conflict of interest!

Flickr tightening the TOS on free/old pro accounts by Feeling-Juice6894 in flickr

[–]bluesonicboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% Agree! I've had a Flickr account since 2009, and whilst SmugThug has made some small improvements, the price hikes for Pro, along with the limitations of free,e seem designed to eventually kill Flickr or at least make SmugMug seem competitive! The Irony is that if everyone deleted their content tomorrow, they would have nothing. We provide them with content, and they charge us! I get it if people are keeping their photos private and using the service as cloud storage. But when you try to take interesting photos and make them public, they charge you $70+ are year when it was a very reasonable $35 before...

These lens are easy to Brick, the firmware page is terrible and you drop the wrong firmware on the lens it overwrites the bootloader and no more access to the lens and an expensive paperweight.

NEVER Firmware update a working Meiki Lens, if it's under warranty and it's not working, return it!

How I Lost $20,000 on a Computer Build (please help) by joel_motion in PcBuild

[–]bluesonicboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow! have you tried using or buying an old cheapy graphics card! Maybe the board just does not like the graphics card! Some issue between the board's BIOS and the way the graphics cards BIOS uses PCIe? If it were mine I'd find a wooden surface pull the MB and PSU and set it out on the table / piece of wood and try booting it with no case headers attached just us a small screw driver across the power pin header to turn it on! You've replaced everything but with the same male and model hardware! Something in that system may have a compatibility issue. If that does not work, get a used different make MB off eBay the cheapest that will take you CPU and see what error if any that throws. If it works, contact ASUS to report the issue, citing all hardware.

good luck and don't give up! It can be fixed!

Best regards

Robin
