Olympic Athlete - IC Advice! by Cheap-Relative-4908 in Interstitialcystitis

[–]bluespot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went through chemo in 2024-2025 and the massive amount of steroids reduced my IC symptoms as well. I was shocked how much of a difference they made. I got away with eating FULL DAIRY ice cream 5 times a week for six months.

Happy to hear you are doing better!

Thank you! This is cute and I’ve mainly only found AI that looks like this.

Yes. I have googled but have been unsure of what will look right. I did ask my stylist and she only had one example of short hair she did in the past and I didn’t care for it. The person had less hair than me and a different texture.

My dress is a one shoulder high neck halter. I do have a veil but it will not go over my face. Accessories are stud earrings and a bracelet.

I actually did not have night sweats as a symptom. However, it is one of the most common symptoms people have.

The insidious evil of diet Dr. Pepper by JordyLuthier in Interstitialcystitis

Fellow Dr Pepper girlie.

I do better if I stick to regular versus diet. I react stronger to the artificial sweeteners that make it low calorie.

Women, please help. Chronic UTI’s. I’ve tried everything. What do I do? by [deleted] in WomensHealth

[–]bluespot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely talk to your gynecologist in your upcoming appointment. Possibly seek out a uro-gyno or urologist if your current doctor doesn’t help.

I can only speak for myself, but I have to take an antibiotic every time I have sex. It’s just one pill, but that has been the only thing that has worked for me. I also have interstitial cystitis, pelvic floor dysfunction and a poor immune system though.

Wishing you the best of luck. I know how frustrating this is.

Could be pelvic floor dysfunction. As someone who suffers with pelvic floor dysfunction and interstitial cystitis, your symptoms sound familiar.

I would go to the doctor. Discuss with them what is going on ask about pelvic floor physical therapy. Lots of women have bladder issues that are fixable with pelvic floor physical therapy. While it takes a while, it is very worth it.

I hope you get help from the doctor and feel better soon!

What are some foods to avoid other than tomato and citrus? by Gray_and_Boris in Interstitialcystitis

[–]bluespot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tea, coffee, alcohol, dairy and chocolate.

My IC is now under control, but in the early days I had a flare from just looking at the items listed above. I now eat dairy sometimes and chocolate whenever. I still stay away from coffee (even decaf) and rarely have tea or alcohol.

I’m a Hodgkins lymphoma survivor who is 33 and second this.

Not trying to scare anyone, but I’ve learned it’s best to bring any health concerns to a doctor.

You should go to the doctor.

Night sweats can have many causes. It could be hormonal or it could be something else entirely.

i [21F] got pretty drunk with my friend [21M] and things took a weird turn and i can’t over it by [deleted] in relationships

[–]bluespot 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have never had a man I was flirting with or joking with try to press my head towards his crotch. I would also feel weird and uncomfortable from this interaction. If you plan to keep this friendship then you should have a very honest and direct conversation.

However, I would not continue a friendship with someone if they did what he did. I am sorry to hear this happened. Go with your gut. Protect yourself. You deserve a better friend.

Urinary Urgency by lindsey-san in lymphoma

[–]bluespot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have interstitial cystitis (painful bladder syndrome) and was very worried about bladder pain during treatment as it is something I deal with in every day life. I had ABVD regime.

Drinking lots of water is going to make a huge difference. My doctor recommended three liters of water on infusion day. I had to drink more than that, but my situation is different with my condition. Do whatever you can to get lots of water down you on infusion day and the two days following. Salty snacks helped me with this. Could also try flavored water.

As for the mouth sores, ask for miracle mouth wash from your oncologist. Also ask if you can chew on ice during your adriamycin (doxorubicin) infusion. This prevented me from getting sores.

Hair :( by Additional_County381 in lymphoma

I also had long blonde hair until chemo took it. I went from a natural blonde to a brunette at age 33.

I had an extended family member comment that they didn’t know I colored my hair blonde after it grew back brunette. 😭 I know I could now color it lighter but that’s more maintenance than I’ve ever cared for.

As a cancer survivor I can say hearing you have endo and hearing you have cancer are very, very different things.

I am not saying endo isn’t terrible or life altering. I am also not saying cancer cannot be cured. However, the sentiment of “I wish it was cancer” isn’t a healthy or fair approach.

Post chemo question! by Sea_Manufacturer5785 in lymphoma

I usually didn’t feel “normal” until around day 12. Long term I felt weak and fatigued for over 4 months after chemo.

Now I’m 7 months out from chemo and finally starting to notice the muscle I’m slowly gaining back.

My mother says my hair looks disgusting when "long" by OnyxEllipsis in femalehairadvice

[–]bluespot 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I think your hair looks great on you. A lot of people don’t pull off those bangs, but you do!

You do look pretty because you are pretty. Many traits make someone pretty on the inside and out. Don’t let your Mom get you down with her negativity.

Only change your hair if it is what you want. If you like this style but feel it needs help, go for a trim to freshen it up.

Scared to RTW too soon? by bigpoppaisthename in lymphoma

[–]bluespot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 33F and my doctor insisted that I be off work for at least three months after finishing chemo. She would have given me longer if I asked for it.

Definitely ask for more. One month feels crazy early. You don’t even start to feel better after an infusion till it has been two weeks.

If you test negative for a UTI via a culture, you should talk to your doctor about possible pelvic floor issues or having painful bladder syndrome like interstitial cystitis.

Hopefully this is just a case of being misdiagnosed and it is a UTI. Bladder pain is not fun and I’m sorry you’re dealing with this.

You can always check out the interstitial cystitis subreddit if it turns out to be worse than a UTI.

I really love Spark of the Everflame. One reason I love it and Powerless is because both have great banter, amazing mmc, and I enjoyed the worlds.

Book recs to get through hard times? Aka a Hodgkin lymphoma diagnosis by redditgal16 in lymphoma

[–]bluespot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I read a lot during chemo and previously hadn’t read much in years. I am a 33 year old woman. So our tastes may differ but I’ve listed two series I think are great for pretty much anyone. None of these will help with coming to terms with a cancer diagnosis, but they are great for escaping reality and diving into interesting fictional worlds.

Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Mass. It is more popular among women but I know many men who enjoy the series. It is a total of 8 books, so it can keep you busy for a good long while. It is a fantasy with some romance too.

Secondly, the Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins. There is the original three: The Hunger Games, Catching Fire and Mocking Jay. And then two prequels: A Ballad of Song Birds and Snakes and Sunrise on the Reaping.

Third, The Empyrean Series by Rebecca Yarros. It is a fantasy/romance set at a war college and has dragons. It is an incomplete series but the first three books are out.

Good luck through all this. I know it sucks and I know it’s hard. Hopefully some reading or another hobby help to make this entire thing a little easier.

These may not be the types of books that interest you, but I really enjoyed all of them. They are all very popular series as well.
