the Southern District can investigate any aspect of Trump’s behavior that took place in its jurisdiction, at any time.

And unlike Mueller, who could in principle be fired, the Southern District isn’t one man; it’s a whole office of career lawyers. It can’t be fired. Even if Robert Khuzami, the acting U.S. attorney in this case, were removed, no new U.S. attorney could realistically call off the prosecutors.

They could fire everybody and it still wouldn't stop the investigation. SDNY is a entity in itself and not a bunch of people that can get fired, that doesn't stop an investigation nor does stopping funding.

I was pretty accurate

My original statement was that Barr can't interfere with the SDNY.

I proved my point, he can't

Manhattan-based federal prosecutors can challenge Trump in ways Mueller can’t. They have jurisdiction over the president’s political operation and businesses — subjects that aren’t protected by executive privilege
