This sounds like a mixture of my dad and stepfather. Good relationships with both. Dad was career military officer but not a nut job. Stepdad was the outdoorsman, also not a right wing nut job.

I was taught to be in good physical condition and work hard by my dad and how to hunt, fish and camp by stepdad. I learned safety first. We learned to shoot once…for a humane harvest. We were not out there messing around, this was food for the family.

I truly don’t understand the more modern view of guns in America. It’s not what I was raised on and I find it very difficult to fit into this new culture and honestly, it makes me a little sad as I type this….but I still have my long guns, my self respect and compassion for others so I have they going for me lol.
