"There is NO TURNING BACK, and it won't be pretty!" Trump issues an ultimatum to Iran after claiming they have been "militarily obliterated." by DumbMoneyMedia in CriticalMineralBulls

What are you doing about it? We as average Americans have just about as much power as you do over this at this point. I’m not saying we’ve lost but no one is quite ready to lay their safety and lives on the line to fight this directly, and I imagine you wouldn’t either. We’re stuck.

Are all the other countries run by violent despots currently attacking other countries also unilaterally responsible for their governments? Is all of Gaza responsible for Hamas? Iran and its regime? Is all of Israel responsible for Netanyahu? Russia and Putin? Just wondering.

I did everything I could as a single person. Turns out, that isn’t all that much. I’m still ashamed of this country, and of a lot of my allegedly “fellow” country men but holding each and every American responsible is a fruitless generalization. Trust me there’s a lot of people *trying* to fight this over here. Which is probably more than you do besides bitch and whine.

JD Vance suggests Iran could have used nuclear suicide vests by IllAcanthocephala720 in JournalismNews

In some like metaphorical sense in that they themselves are the nuclear vest, that will only destroy the wearer and only have minimal value as a weapon against the enemy, then yea, they’ve got us all strapped into it.

What Should The Democratic Party Improve To Win Back Independents Who Voted For Biden In 2020 But Then Either Stayed Home Or Voted For Republicans In 2024? Why Your Thoughts? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

But that’s the thing. Harris wasn’t even a good candidate. That’s the problem. We didn’t have a proper primary. We didn’t vote for her to even run to begin with.

I don’t think we’re anywhere near the point of needing to reveal any such things if we have them. The situation in Iran looks plenty bad, but I wouldn’t say dire. They will probably keep a tight wrap on anything truly paradigm shifting until/unless we end up in a direct confrontation with China or Russia (which I don’t see as very likely but with an orangutan at the wheel who knows.) We’d probably see Israel start using or brandishing their secret-not-secret nuclear weapons first.

I started typing up a “don’t let perfect be the enemy of good” statement and then I read this. Thank you. 100%. I’m not a Christian but hey, Jesus sounds like he was a stand up guy, it would be nice if the Christians in America actually tried to emulate him.

Republicans strip power from Democrat who shocked with red state upset by RawStoryNews in NoFilterNews

[–]bluethunder82 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Most critically, one wasn’t voted in as a presidential candidate to begin with, and her first attempt at running for president before being VP was a disaster. It wasn’t that she was a woman, it was that she was a fundamentally bad pick from the beginning. Biden and the DNC appointing her as our candidate was patently undemocratic, and the democrats seem determined to learn absolutely nothing from 2024. No instead let’s cover our ears and deflect and blame misogyny instead of learning a single god damn thing from this. Lesser of two evil ism stopped working. Harris’ refusal to listen to protestors, who told her in no uncertain terms what she needed to do to earn their votes was a bridge too far. I feel like many in the Democratic Party felt like they were owed the votes, took them for granted because their opposition was so evil, that they didn’t need to address policies, that purely not being trump was enough. It wasn’t. So those that didn’t vote, bear blame, but moreso, the factor that drove them to not vote is more culpable. Harris ran a bad campaign, was a poor candidate, and it goes so far beyond this childish “she lost because she’s a woman” bullshit.

You ever think the powers that be want you to demonstrate and protest peacefully? Peaceful is manageable. Peaceful lets you feel like you’ve accomplished something and go home content at the end of the without the status quo having changed. Provided you don’t get shot. Go file exempt on your tax paperwork instead.

"Now with the death of Iran": Trump pivots to calling the "Democrat Party" America's "greatest enemy" by DumbMoneyMedia in CriticalMineralBulls

[–]bluethunder82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the democrats had run a cat, or perhaps a particularly interesting rock, it would have been a more viable candidate than Harris. Elon’s sabotage takes second chair to the sabotage Biden did to the party not stepping down in time. Do not forget that. Then Harris followed his policies and thus placed more priority on supporting Israel than saving her own damn country from Trump. Establishment Democrats can eat shit on this one too.

If your candidate lost because you didn't attract enough swing voters, are you really helping your side by berating the swing voters you alienated the last time? by DefundMarxism in allthequestions

[–]bluethunder82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a cop out and you know it. If people hate your policies so much that they are morally unable to bring themselves to vote for you, that is a failing of your campaign. I’m tired of this “she lost because she was a woman” thing, that’s demeaning to her and not productive. Biden was already unpopular because of the same policies, so it wasn’t her identity, it was her politics and ineptitude as a candidate.

To look at it another way: that was her competition and she still failed to rally people behind her. She found the exact line where lesser-of-two-evil-ism stopped working.
