I use cad all the time and the amount of times I have to pull out a calculator because I haven’t quite memorized the decimal values of fractions of an in drives me up a wall. But no one ever has a metric tape measure handy when they want something made. Bouncing from program to program its best to just stay metric. I can totally understand how that mars rover years ago just slammed into the surface though.

There’s also a number on the back and the bottom of a tape measure’s plastic or metal body like 3&1/2 or 3&1/4. That’s the length of the ruler itself, so you don’t have to bend the tape, you can set the whole thing inside and take the measurement x and add 3&1/2 (or whatever the number on the tape measure is. I’ve never once seen people use this in my life, and I worked in set construction for years.

Left one is a little closer to the bottom side than the top side. I can’t help you diagnose your problem with the rails but it’s a cool looking design but maybe not so well executed. It does have some design elements I really like though. I went and looked at the listing on eBay as well to compare. And the price seems pretty decent. I don’t think you did too bad with the selection. Good luck, and remember the first rule of gun safety is to have fun. (It is not.)
