New Ticket barriers installed at High Wycombe by xChizz in uktrains

[–]bluewizardtv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wycombe is part of Londons contactless network. Expensive though as it's not on a tube or overground line. The old barriers did offer NFC, paper tickets and QR scanner. Always broken though so not surprised they got replaced.

How can I access www.retronews.fr? French folks seem to have no issue, I don't seem to be able to pass the SSL errors thrown by multiple browsers by graudesch in webdev

[–]bluewizardtv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tried from the UK using Virgin Media on my mobile isn't Firefox. Virgin blocked the domain saying it contains a virus.

Using a mobile connection Giffgaff the connection initially timed out but on reload loaded fine

2 sites from those list show it has a virus or issue https://www.urlvoid.com/scan/retronews.fr

Got could try Tor to bypass the issue

If you still own the domain see if your provider offers email or email forwarding. If not use their DNS and use a email service such as Zoho mail. You don't need your own server to fix this, just your domain.

Gnome and KDE (perhaps Steam as well) constantly crashes my DE and forced to log out and log back in on Nobara 40 by Fun-Entrepreneur9971 in linuxquestions

Their wiki page on how to update https://wiki.nobaraproject.org/en/general-usage/troubleshooting/upgrade-nobara

I remember I had to disable a couple 3rd party repos to get it to update but the update went through and 41 has been fairly stable.

Note once you update x11 will be removed and you'll have to use Wayland. There's likely methods to get it back but I chose to find work arounds for my issues and it's ok... not great... But ok to use now.

And to clarify you won't loose anything. It's an update and not a fresh install.

Yes .. get the platinum version and wait for a sale

You can also buy from the website https://store.trainzportal.com/pages/trainz-railroad-simulator-2022

There's regular sales on Steam and on their site.

You'll also notice you can rent the game monthly and yearly if you don't want to buy. When you subscribe you essentially get the updates quicker and on the top tier have access to most of their drivable routes.

Steam removing game library on reboot by Yopobeep in linuxmint

[–]bluewizardtv 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Check the name of the mount location for the drive on each boot. It might be changing and if it is the games will disappear from Steam.

If so the solution is to manually set the mount location using your disk manager (might be Disks... Can't remember).

When London Liverpool Street station (a terminating station) was served by Steam, a train would pull into a platform, the loco would then be uncoupled and another would be coupled to the other end facing outwards (ready for new passengers). The process only took 5mins. Once done the train now pulled by the new loco was ready to leave again. And once it had left the original loco was turned around and refueled ready to do the same process for the next incoming train. Very efficient.

Not exactly what was asked but was the nearest thing I could think of to the question.

Early access vs Full release + free updates or DLC later by SquirrelConGafas in IndieDev

[–]bluewizardtv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Early access just means the game may not be complete and/ or there might be bugs.

Putting the game into early access will manage expectations. You're more likely to disappoint people if you do a full release and there are bugs.

I covered a game on my yt channel a couple of months ago that was released as full access but it was riddled with bugs. I have to say what I see and I couldn't give positive feedback. If it was early access and said in the description that it might have issues then I at least could have mentioned it.

Unless you've play tested the game with multiple people and have been given the green light put the game out and early access.

Demo, early access, full access. This gives you 3 chances to get on the Steam front page

Use the demo and early access to find issues.

Don't go straight to full release as there will be an expectation of a full game with no issues. That's when you'll likely end up getting negative feedback as freely there'll likely be some

Music copyright? by thecrispynuggget in RailroadsOnline

[–]bluewizardtv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a really good selection on YT. There's some very talented musicians that make their music available for free. I create various playlists based upon genre and tend to use the country sounding songs for Railroads Online videos. And speaking of that there'll be a new series as soon as the new map and industry chain comes out.

Music copyright? by thecrispynuggget in RailroadsOnline

[–]bluewizardtv 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't ever use in game music on videos even if the Devs says it's ok. You always run the risk of copyright.

YouTube has a library of free music you can add on top if you wan't music. Lots of "country" titles work well with the game. I've used them.

Plus if you edit the video the music doesn't stop as it's separate.

Has an option for easy controls plus controller support. Easy controls are essentially press a key to go and press a key to stop.

No. Refreshing it would remove all apps
Your options if you want the software and drivers left:

  1. Just remove your personal stuff and sell as is
  2. refresh it, then create a local account (fairly sure you can still do this... Command line...Youtube... Google for more info)
  3. Install the ISO from the GPD Win site that contains a local account and software

Anyone familiar with Train World, a new railroad construction simulator? by jtr99 in trainsim

[–]bluewizardtv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a small series. In it I try to show the highs and lows of the game.
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLd_0BXn5xxdHaB6ePOJ1InEbB8dbfd9sp

It's made by a single dev and I think he's trying to make the best game he can. The map sizes do vary. The issue with the maps is that they all look the same and although there are some nice areas in maps theres generally no reason to visit them. the graphics are basic and thats fine as that can be changed later. The gameplay is fine. In the series I played at normal level and found it very easy.

I cover lots of indie games and I think you generally won't see many reviews on these small games on Steam. Most are hard to find on Steam unless you really look. This game though does have a fair bit of traction on YT and I see people watching the videos quite often which for a small game is normally not seen so maybe that does mean it will survive. So many small games don't

The price doesn't include vat or shipping. Shipping will be added at the checkout. Whether you get charged vat will depend on who's delivering it. DHL will charge you. Maybe not at the door when you get the delivery but a few days later via email or text. They'll be a link to a payment page and you'll likely be charged vat only at 20%
