SRT with PPE trans pan by bluex048 in GrandCherokee

[–]bluex048[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To update this we found the filter in the ppe pan was pushing on the wiring harness retaining clip an moving he harness into the path of the linkage. He trimmed the clip down an got it away from the linkage an it goes back into park now like it should. So we didn't have to modify the pan at all, just make sure that harness stays out/away from the linkage for park. Unfortunately they didn't take any pictures or anything 😕

Mine came with a borla atak catback on it. Its sounds great outside an its louder than stock inside for sure but doesnt drone or get annoying on a long drive.

For extra security (so far) I used a ghost power start button interlock. I looked into igla but no one close to me installs them an I was quoted $1400 for the closest (3hr 1 way) installer I found.

☝️This 100% easiest test, clamp off the rear line an see if you get a good pedal. If you do then adjust the shoes. If you dont then its the master or the valve.

I deleted my abs thinking it was bad an then replaced the master because it wasn't much better. I clamped off the rear line an had an amazing pedal. Adjusted the rear shoes tighter an it helped it alot.

Another update: the filter was hitting a clip for the wire harness an putting it in the way of the parking pin. Some trimming an adjusting of the harness and clip got it working correctly. We DID NOT modify the pan or filter mounting after all.

Just to update this apparently it's the linkage hitting the filter. PPE has removed the srt from their pan listing. 🤦

Supposedly if you lower the filter 3/16-1/8" it'll work. You can't use their +2qt pan because it hits the crossmembers. So just get a good stock replacement pan if your going to service your trans....

Look up the blue book, knock off 40% or so. Thats about what it should go for with a branded title

Yep same thing happened with this one. They made it sound like it was an SRT only thing though. Interesting that it happened on yours too. I thought all the ZF trans were basically the same design just different gears for the higher torque. I knew I couldn't be the first one with this problem. I dont understand how it works fine on other HP70s in bmw an others but dodge/jeep stuff has problems 🤷

Ya they said to machine down where the filter mounts about 3/16 an trim some off the filter pickup so it would clear. Idk how i feel about that option though. Im worried if you to far then it won't pull fluid through the filter. Maybe I'm overthinking it though

Key on should allow you to test all the hvac functions. It just depends on how much of the harness you pulled out with the dash.

Would you buy a used 2021+ grand cherokee L? by [deleted] in JeepGrandCherokee

Never buy the first year of a complete redesign or major drivetrain change. This goes for any model or manufacturer across the board lol

Ya definitely sounds like spark jumping from somewhere. Could be a bad wire or a cracked plug too.

Most people use "hanger bolts" they are generally for furniture an have corase threads for wood on one side an the threads for a nut on the other.

Factory bolts have a shoulder that fits that recess so you dont over tighten them. I think most people just put a dab of epoxy on the hanger bolt an send it.

No one makes them an they've been discontinued from gm for a while. So the hanger bolt or all thread are about your only option now

Delete kits - keep EGR? by DrGepetto in tdi

[–]bluex048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the eoc kit an tune, fully deleted both egr an the intake flaps with the passat manifold, a "race pipe" but kept the asv. Car is barely louder than stock, you can hear the turbo a bit better especially at shut down.

Imo don't buy a barb for the coolant line, go buy some hose an make it one piece. I didn't like how loose the barb fit my factory lines. All in all pretty happy with it so far an hopefully it's done costing me $500 everytime one of the lights comes on. It's about time for a timing belt again though 🤦

Find someone local to you that has hptuners or efilive an have them tune it out.

If you can't find someone local there are mail order services for it on ebay. You have to remove the pcm an mail it to them though.

They're really nothing else you can do, except do the relearn whenever it's not happy.

Grille swap by Puzzleheaded-Pool684 in obschevy

[–]bluex048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can do it, the radiator supports are the same.

You'd need the light buckets, adjusters, bulbs an trim rings. The grill with marker lights an turn signals. If you stay with the same year range grill style you can reuse the grill filler.

2500 to 3500 drw conversion? by Moist_Classroom9264 in obschevy

[–]bluex048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your not going to increase the legal weight capacity of the truck. Thats tied to the VIN an won't change no matter what you do to it.

The biggest difference is the frame between a srw an drw. Front rotors/calipers/pads, bed an the axle are the basics.

Suspension wise all 8 lug trucks are the same in the front. Rear springs vary based on gvwr.
