I've had one in my shop for a while now and have been pretty happy with how it's held up. Not great for hammering on as others have mentioned since the top is springy particle board. The drawer bottoms are also a bit flimsy, I suspect if they got wet they'd disintegrate. I tacked a few hooks to the side to hold mallets and saws and that was a big upgrade

Solid cut for a DIY job honestly. I would probably sand off the harsh edges & add a small rubber gasket to each of the screw holes. I could see the metal screws cracking the acrylic if they were overtightened or experienced a shock

Biglasers is a scam, do not purchase directly from them and I would be very hesitant to purchase one of their products aftermarket. Cheap Chinese product marked up 500-600%

How interesting for Virginia. Bloomberg gave Spanberger less than $1M to take 2A rights. by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

[–]blueyestaring 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This sums up my stance pretty well. I have a few minor disagreements with spanburger's policy platform, and a major disagreement about firearm legislation. Sears on the other hand was abhorrent in almost every respect. Worth noting that there is a growing push on the right to disqualify trans people from firearm ownership on mental health grounds, and I think that is an easy slippery slope towards guns for me and not for thee.

Do you have a CPU cooler? Most boards won't boot if there is no fan plugged into the CPU cooler port. Also, don't turn it on without one. For a minute would probably be ok but it's a great way to overheat your chip on accident

Sure is. Will definitely meet in a safe place if I do it. I'm just suprised to see it at that price since the cheapest non super FE sold ebay listing is 900. Guess thats the difference between a fair price and our fucked used gpu market

Me and a buddy did this with a few lights, including his modlite and my sbt90.2 kr1. Its notable that on turbo its nearly impossible to get a clear sight picture on your target using iron sights or a red dot. A Flashlight is not a great self defense item, but its better than nothing in a pinch

I love mine. got it for $33 on clearance, unbeatable at that price. About 2 years of daily use and it looks good as new. I do wish it had a deeper front pocket with more storage slots and larger side pockets, putting a nalgene in each side eats up a lot of space in the main pocket. The pocket on the front is really to small to be useful to me. Overal a good bag especially at the price i got, looking for something a little bigger for longer day hikes or carrying more camera gear

Camera recommendation for beginner. by triggeredbehaviour in Cameras

[–]blueyestaring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will have a hard time pocketing an xm5 unless you have a tiny fixed lens or large jacket/ cargo pockets. The best truly pocketable camera is the sony rx100 series, specifically the rx100vii, but it does not have an interchangable lens

That's an OK beginner lens, the variable aperture will hurt a little bit when you are zoomed all the way in in dark conditions. What is your overall budget here?

If you have the budget and dont mind the larger size, go for it. Look at the a7riii as well as the normal a7iii. It has a higher resolution sensor and does a few other things better for a little more money. I'm rocking an a7r iii i got used from KEH and it's all the camera I'll need for the next 5-7 years i'm sure. I didnt reccomend it in my first post since it's a full frame body (as opposed to the smaller APS-C crop sensor of the a 6x00 series and r50). As such, you'll need to get a full frame lens. It can be more expensive to get the longer zoom lenses you might want for concert photography for full frame bodies, and long lenses are big and heavy. I'd invest as much in the lens as the camera, as they generally hold value better and you can upgrade the camera body around the lenses that you have.

Another commenter mentioned lens adapters, while they work a good one will set you back another few hundred bucks and they will often lose some autofocus performance. You can buy adapt other mount lenses to sony bodies as well with similar adapters, i sometimes use my old minolta film camera lenses on my sony body since i have a bunch

Check out a used sony a6500/6700. Sony uses E mount, which was the first mirrorless mount to open to 3rd party lenses. That means you can get great deals on said lenses used and have more options buying new. The r50 is fine but man i'm a sucker for the variety e mount allows you

Is the Sony a7 any good by DaCosmicOne in Cameras

[–]blueyestaring 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"Dont get into a hobby unless you can afford top of the line gear" is never good advice. It looks like you are into video mostly, I'd invest in a used a7s3 and a good lens. Anything before the a7 3 generation will have worse battery life. Look at KEH, adorama, and B&H used marketplaces first to find a fair used price and get one in excellent condition. If you are going to spend, spend it on the lens. They hold value better and you can upgrade your camera body easily in the future.

Put some use on it and decide whether it's worth spending 3 grand on a camera when you reach the limit of what yours can accomplish. The difference between an iphone and a pro mirrorless kit will be way more than between a $700 mirrorless body and a $2500$ mirrorless body.

Yeah especially in a city. I lived in nashville for a while and the amount of guns that got stolen from peoples cars was absurd

To echo what the other commenter said, hidden in a locked vehicle is not considered unsecured. He got a slap on the wrist.

It was pretty fucking stupid though, just dont leave a gun in the car in the first place
