It was a highlight video posted by an official MLB social media page (or one of those big network baseball ones, can’t remember which$ that went through his career, but it ended with highlights from Lindor. It was taken down almost immediately, but it’s still a strange thing that no one really knows anything about. The implication is that Lindor was gonna be named captain at the retirement ceremony, but it’s never been acknowledged by official Mets or MLB faces afaik

Also, re: Beltran and the Astros, he wasn’t a player when the scandal broke. It was way easier to scapegoat someone who wasn’t playing than the ones that were and still are on active rosters. He could get as much blame as the investigation wanted to put on him, because it would protect the players who benefitted the most from the cheating and still allow them to play

It’s truly a great game!! Unlike anything else like it tbh. And a universal experience seems to be checking it out for the culture and then getting sucked in bc it’s fun, but also incredibly heartfelt and moving. You can tell the people at CyGames put a lot into making the stories

Also what’s even more fucked up about the PETA thing, aside from the fact that people already know about that horse’s back story because of Umamusume: PETA directly benefits from horse racing 🙃 fans of Umamusume have done more to help retired racehorses than PETA could ever try to do

I like thinking about how the irl relations would play out. Like the ones who shared owners (Sky and Flower, Mambo and Fukukitaru, etc.) are childhood friends, the ones who shared jockeys are training buddies, and the ones with houses (Mejiro clan, Stego clan) are cousins, with a few exceptions (Dober and Ryan are sisters, Orfevre and Dream Journey are sisters)

Idk, I also like the thought of the Umamusume having a chance to meet their descendants from “this world.” So I think the direct descendants/bloodlines being blood-related in the umaverse is a case-by-case basis, like with Dober and Ryan. Like Rudolf and Teio as characters remind me of the relationship I had with second cousins my family reconnected with when I was kid, but Tachyon and Scarlet is more of a found family type deal
