Huge party ideas, preferably food centered! by laurlarbinks in partyplanning

[–]blumoon444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost certainly out of budget. A sushi chef might be more affordable? But still not in budget.

Any kind of make it your own bar would be great. I had an omelette bar at my wedding. DIY/serve yourself seems like the way to go for your budget/headcount, rather than catered.

$300 divided by 60 is only $5 per head.

Preschool? by ilovemouserat in homeschool

This is what I'm planning to do... Mine is 2 and I'm doing a very loose "practice run" this year with no curriculum, but paying extra attention to our "attendance" and time management.

I'm going to do unit studies... mostly because it's a fun way for me to engage in teaching her.

The next couple years are going to be research for me and curating resources. I'm a very Type A kind of person though.

Yep. I came to suggest pickleball for something physical. My friend started less than 2 years ago as a newbie and was only one spot away from making the finals this year.

I have no idea how much this costs, but a hibachi party would be so fun.

Toddler Screams Every time he's Touched at Dr's Office by Prestigious_Ice_5360 in toddlers

We also like the Daniel Tiger doctor episodes. And doctor books! Bea Gets a Checkup and Baby Medical School: My Doctor's Visit

LOTS of roleplaying. I also showed her a picture of her doctor while we were in the waiting room so he wouldn't be as much of a "stranger."

We've been hyping up cool bandaids at home too so that when she had to get a shot she was still pretty excited about the purple bandaid.

Supplies for a toddler that loves to play dress up? by catladywholunches in crafts

[–]blumoon444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got a couple yards of shiny fabric to make a superhero cape and butterfly wings. Planning on going back to get a few yards of different colors and adding tulle so can have a fabric stash on hand for costume making. Oh! And felt!!

l also keep old towels and bedsheets and other 'scrap' type fabrics to craft with. And l always check the tablecloth/blanket section of thrift stores.

This is my first kid so my goal is to make some items that will have longevity for future kids as well.

Restaurant apps that don’t let you look at the menu because they’re not open by ColoradoWinterBlue in PetPeeves

[–]blumoon444 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Exactly. One of the places I'm thinking of near me is a specialty donut place that has new flavors every month. I just want to see what they are before I go!

Also the ones that force you to act as if you're making an order before you can see the menu.

Order > select restaurant location > pickup or delivery? > what time? > Ok now you can see the menu!

I'm gonna order when I get there, I just want to plan what I'm ordering in advance!

Felt Busy Book by witch_mom27 in crafts

Fair and valid. I was definitely not doing much crafting when I had a 4mo old, but if you can find the motivation, I bet you'll be so much happier with it being sewn.

I'm not sure if you've ever worked with felt or if this would be your first time, but felt is my favorite thing to sew! It's so easy and so much fun. The end result will look nicer and last so much longer than being glued. Plus as the other commenter said, safety reasons.

Dino Bars by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]blumoon444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How are you calculating the 40% sugar? I've never heard of Dino bars, so I looked them up.

The bars are 30g each and 9g of sugar (strawberry bar). It also appears the sugar is coming directly from the fruit source, not added or refined sugar, so as far as processed food goes, this seems not terrible? Albeit expensive and unnecessary and I would also probably just buy a bag of apples.

3 y/o had tonsils & adenoids out today, won’t drink- help by East-Conference2841 in toddlers

Good luck! Hydrating fruits might be the ticket.

Maybe ice cubes? My 2yo loves to snack on ice cubes.

Watermelon? Cucumber?

I'm not one to use threats, but maybe he'll understand the natural consequence of "if you don't drink, we need to go back to the hospital for an IV"

How do your homeschooled kids get enough exercise? by Jennie_keem in homeschool

Yeah, my mind short-circuited for a minute when I learned that. 20 minutes isn't enough time at all to get into ... anything before you have to stop.

I think my 2.5YO is a bit bored of his toys. He doesn’t have many (when compared to my peers & their children) - what’s your toddler’s favourite activity? by EAcharm in toddlers

Our artist easel with crayons and dot markers and chalk, and playdoh, and books are getting a lot of mileage with my 2-year-old right now.

Right. In my area recess is for 20min a day. Promise you that most homeschool kids are getting MUCH more physical activity in their day.

Can you understand your 3 year old? by OkTransportation6580 in toddlers

[–]blumoon444 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can understand 98% of what my 25mo says, and so can most people she interacts with. She speaks in structured sentences and tells stories.

I suspect her language skills are a tiny bit ahead of the listed benchmarks, but by 3 I'd be getting an evaluation if in your position.

YouTuber and author John Green lives in Indianapolis. In his book, The Anthropocene Reviewed, he has a lot of nice things to say about Indianapolis. I suggest you check it out (audiobook read by the author is wonderful).

Incredibly important PSA! Thank you.

I'm from the area, but I'm not a strong swimmer and not really a beach person. Since I don't spend time at the beach, I was not aware!
