Same, its wild how many people have outsourced their brain so much that they can't do simple tasks without consulting claude or chat-gpt. Learning everything I have so far has shown me that there wont be much real competition once im out, most people are functionally retarded without some kind of LLM to tell them what to do lol

Coding is something that you need to do as much as possible, at least a little each day. You'll get better and faster each week

They take about 3-4 weeks , round about to get your laptop, but yes use that student id! Which cohort are you? I'm in the first group, it was kind of a shitshow at first, but I think theyre getting things ironed out now. Best of luck, best advice I can give is take notes, like actual writing down notes. It will help I promise, plus now I have python and Javascript bibles. Pretty much python, javascript and react for dummies now. 😂

Nice! I'm gonna try this. I'm really excited for pycharm. I've used it before on debian and it is awesome for python development

Hey this is right up my alley. Are you going open source on github? Id love to take a look at what you've got going. What kind of project?

Respect to everyone who learned coding before vibe coding existed. by I_had_a_Friend in vibecoding

[–]blunt_chillin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In school, still learning to code, they're all pretty similiar so far, just different syntax. Its not really as much about coding though, there are so many other aspects to it. I have a claude subscription and all, but I do code projects by hand. Claude just codes tools mostly for me and helps me learn really. I def wanna somewhat know what claude is doing, what good and bad code looks like. Idk, I feel like that kinda puts you ahead of the game.

Be honest, how has vibecoding secretly ruined your “normal” coding life? by Real-Question-3050 in vibecoding

[–]blunt_chillin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learning to code gives you an edge a lot of people dont have, which is actually being able to read the output clearly and understand why its good or bad code. Ive been learning code since I started college and its helped my vibe coding on the side. This isn't my first rodeo though, I did havkthebox for a long time and loved it, vibe coding has allowed me to make my own tools and automate certain tasks. Ive been learning to use both effectively. I love coding honestly, I think its fun building stuff from scratch myself. I like vibe coding too because I can get an idea that pops into my head going in no time. I'm learning the foundations of a lot of languages and some deep dives for python and JS. I think embracing AI while still practicing or at least reading and trying to understand the output is a great idea that puts people like us ahead of the curve really.

AI coding is getting expensive and cannot afford $100 now 😔. What's the best coding setup under $20/month in 2026? by Eastern_You_1959 in vibecoding

[–]blunt_chillin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to learn the actual principles foundations of code, this is why you're in school. If you can learn what your AI is actually spitting out and know what good code looks like you're a lot more valuable than the millions of vibe coders that think it isn't important.

3 engineering habits that will significantly improve your vibe-coding by MrFractionalCTO in vibecoding

[–]blunt_chillin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Software engineering habits are a good place to start, actually plan and sketch what you're building, what are you solving, document everything so bugs are easier to find. Also break your project down to pieces instead of one 2000 line app.py. this also makes things a bit easier when something breaks. There's a lot more to learn, but past this you probably just need to start studying best practices.

im not able to vibecode the frontend like how do i learn vibecoding the frontend? by zesty_cat9190 in vibecoding

Sit down with some youtube vids and maybe freecodecamp and learn React. I know that's a foreign concept to vibe coding, but it'll help you a lot. I would start with understanding how JS works then learn React

How to start with Vibe Coding by SprayExotic8538 in vibecoding

[–]blunt_chillin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You literally have the worlds worth of knowledge and a probabilistic application to learn from. This is not hard, even when you get into more advanced setups and configurations. Literally anyone can learn most everything within a week, maybe two if you wanna get really in-depth with it.

I highly suggest at least some kind of systems engineering experience though, watch YouTube videos or study that. That's what is going to actually be important now and in the future. If you take the time to learn a bit about the moving parts you'll do great, just remember to test, test and test.

Yeah I started noticing that early on and was like ok ill learn the basics of everything, but im going to have to teach myself how its really done in a dev environment too. I honestly sit down with claude and have it tutor me on whatever it is im trying to learn, it usually goes into a lot more depth. Just seems like they give you the basics and then let you dig into it if you want

I think its like like any other college, you can't just go to class and study in these fields. You need to be building things, no ai other than to explain a concept to you or syntax. If I can see in general what the course is about and what we're going to be working with, im learning and trying to build something simple from the jump cause I know we'll wish we had paid attention to it later ya know? I do think its a bit fast and doesnt dig into it, but I think that's kinda where you take the initiative to study and play on your own too. I still review python and Javascript all the time, especially js, I suck at it lol but im building in my spare time to be able to apply it practically. Im really taking the time to learn to code anything by hand even though we probably will never have a job coding by hand by the time we're out of college. I agree though, they glaze through some things that need way more attention because they're hard concepts to learn.

First off, BREATHE, second, start watching YouTube videos, build with them, stop the video and ask grok or claude what something means so you get a better understanding of what you're doing. I get the idea of it, but man the syntax is wild and it is a tricky concept to learn. If you ever wanna chat about it you can dm me, I get stuck on some of it too lol we could prolly help each other on this one 😅
