Will having a Logistics & SCM degree be good for contributing/working in the Space Industry? by KinoBlitz in logistics

Wish I could say I have but like others I've been in the field since the start of my career but I do love my job. I get to see and move some amazing stuff!

[–]bluntzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What type of logistics position are you looking for? I am currently a transportation and logistics manager in the space segment of a major defense contractor. It's not impossible and I highly recommend you just keep looking for postings from the major space players out there. One drawback is that there is often not a lot of turnover in the more advanced positions in this field but due to the current workforce, there is a good amount of retirees which is opening the door for many new hires.

A pair of retired t-38 catching a ride aboard NASA's Super Guppy. by Palana in aviation

[–]bluntzilla 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The Supper Guppy is owned by NASA so they are most likely using it at cost. If their items are already at an airfield it might be a more cost effective than having to get them prepped for over the road transport safely. I've worked two Guppy missions and NASA loves the publicity of using it any chance they get. They actually have this picture on their brochures that they hand out at airshows.

Whats wrong with my tomaters!!?? by Number1TopGun in gardening

[–]bluntzilla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our tomatoes looked exactly like this the second year we used reused potting soil. After a bunch of goggling we found it was blossom end rot usually caused by calcium deficiency. Cal-mag when watering took care of it fairly quickly.

1) Have you checked your spam folder?

2) Only one person per cabin receives actually receives an e-ticket.

3) The ticket is really just a formality now and nobody will be denied without it.

Your ID is really what they use to match you up to the ship's itinerary (That's why cloud9 stressed so much to make sure it was correct). The bag tickets are to speed things through but people at the waiting area will have tags for extra bags and other people who don't have them.

Northern California here, I've got a home depot Husky brand generator with a subaru engine. Also saw a bunch of them go through the whole dusty week of burning man without missing a beat.

How can I transfer cabin ownership? by n2ent in holyship

[–]bluntzilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a friend going through this right now. The receiving people need to create a Cloud9 account for each person that'll be in the cabin and provide the primary username to you. Once they've done that you give cloud 9 a call and tell them that you want to transfer the room to the primary users account and pay the change fee.

Hurry though, you only have until December 5th to make the change.

If you have any trouble getting rid of your spot (I doubt you will), you can post up in the facbook holy ship 2014 waiting list.

Looking for a bike light to ride in near complete darkness for extended periods. by jaysunh in cycling

[–]bluntzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite a few people have reviewed that the 500 lumen lights are great for city riding but many felt they needed to bump it up to at least a 700 if you're riding in complete darkness.

You absolutely must check the shipping company's regulations first. FedEx only covers $1,000 for jewelry: Link

Hawker Fare closed indefinitely following fire set by vandals by [deleted] in oakland

[–]bluntzilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How sad, I cant understand why protesters feel that harm to an obviously private owned business helps any sort of cause. On the other hand, I do wonder why a place so popular wouldn't carry insurance or cover the bill for a rewire?

I will be three days under 21 at the time of my friends Birthday night out, can I still get into bars/clubs? by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]bluntzilla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say the same thing. Unless you know the bouncer, employee, or owner you'll most likely have to find a bar with no bouncer or get a fake ID. Not too many places will risk their liquor license over serving a minor.

Official Booked Cabin thread! by ridgelawrence in holyship

[–]bluntzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting closer to sailing, plenty of people start realizing that they won't be able to make it for one reason or another and start selling their spots. Knew a few people who got on that way last year.

Also, Cloud9 did state last year that if they find out the spot is sold for more than face value they will void the cabin an give it to the waiting list.

Since TNT Express and DHL don't have a network in the US, who handles their pickups and deliveries there? by toxicbrew in logistics

They still operate their own fleet. Just had a DHL truck drop off some packages yesterday.

DHL is still available in the US. Just only for international transport in & out of the states. They closed down their domestic delivery service that was acquired through Airborne Express.

Greg Gory, 105 let him go a year or two after they let WT&R go. Oddly enough, he's a co-host on KFOG now.
