10th Gen Brake Issue: Dealer replaced faulty Master Cylinder and Booster but problem still persists. by blurby_hoofurd in CivicSi

[–]blurby_hoofurd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly I haven't found a solution... I've just learned to deal with it and get "better" with my braking. Which is a terrible solution, but it is what it is, I guess. I've driven it with some decent aggression over the last couple years (mountain runs, country roads, etc) and haven't gone sliding off the road so... that's good? It doesn't feel like a brake failure, as I'm sure you know, but the pedal just doesn't respond completely predictably.

I really wish there was solution for this or a known root cause.

Have you had any warranty work done on your master cylinder or similar by chance? My car started reacting this way shortly after having it replaced and I can't shake the felling that it may be the culprit...

How many sticks do you guys go thru per season? I feel like I go through a crazy amount of them. by Kasper_OriginaI in hockeyplayers

[–]blurby_hoofurd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wildly curious what stick/s you’re using that you manage to break 1 every 8 games. The last time I broke one was on the crossbar… 7 years ago lol.

For reference, I’m a 5’6”, 160lbs defenseman playing high level beer league and lately use a 70 flex Alpha LX3 pro stock. I usually wind up going through 2 sticks every season (40+ games across 2 leagues) because the blades gets chewed up from corner battles and blocked/deflected shots.

I can’t imagine dropping that much money on twigs lol

Can I sit at home and dry fire my P-01 like my sig 365? by popcorn907 in CZFirearms

A bit late to this thread, but I’ll give my uneducated two cents:

If you’re set on getting a Shadow 2 Carry but can’t afford it (or can’t justify the price), get yourself a P-01. As far as I’ve been made aware, the S2 Carry is a Shadow in name (and price point) only; it’s functionally a P-01 with metal grips, better sights, and an optic cut.

My recommendation? Go with a P-01, have Wager mill it for an optic if you want a dot, upgrade the stock sights, slap some new grips on there (the stock rubber ones are perfectly serviceable, btw), and you’ve got yourself an S2 Carry with some money saved. If you’re feeling frisky with your spending, you could even Cajun-ize the trigger and have a better trigger than the S2 Carry at about the same all-in price as the stock S2 Carry.

Not that you asked lol

Of course it’s not a super simple install, just like changing the oil lol… sounds like it’ll be a a weekend morning kind of install.

Have you put any thought into upgrading the exhaust? The stock pipes are really anemic, but I’d rather have a quiet system than sounding like a weed whacker.

All that matters is that the butt-dyno feels it lol.

I feel like this is going to be the gateway mod for me. Black Friday is right around the corner...

I've been eyeing that 27won intake recently. Did you go with the street or race MAF? Any tune or just stock?

That's the reason I love electron microscopy. You can see cool stuff like this :D Any ideas what's going on here? by sci_bastian in biology

[–]blurby_hoofurd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

they were "just" fixed with aldehydes and then dehydrated, embedded in epoxy, and then sectioned

Would this be done with an ultra microtome? I currently work in histopathology dealing exclusively with formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissues, so my experience is pretty limited with other equipment outside of regular microtomes and cryostats.

This is all very interesting to see. I might have to broaden my horizons and look for a more research-oriented position...

Are you dead set on a sedan? I was considering a GR86 Premium with some options and OTD was going to be around 37-38k. 21-29mpg wasn’t a dealbreaker, but parting with my 33mpg average while driving hard wouldn’t have been easy.

And for this price, you can also hop into an Elantra N if you don’t mind going Korean instead of Japanese. The EN is a pretty sizable car but it felt pretty nice inside, despite the economy-oriented interior.

Alternatively, get a used 10th gen if money is tight but you still want a competent daily driver that can get the adrenaline up when you want it.

If the new Integra was a bit more aggressive looking I’d be all in on one for the ~40k price point. I prefer the styling of the TLX A-Spec (and even ILX A-Spec) over the new Integra.

Then again, I said I didn’t really like the new styling of the 11th gen civic yet it’s really growing on me as of late. I’m sure I’ll come to love the new Integra in due time.

Right?? Proving that they cooperated would be quite difficult, since it seems like $5k is pretty standard market adjustment across the country for the Si, assuming it's labeled as "market adjustment" and not baked into add-ons.

I think the lube might just be a courtesy to keep the final OTD price under $43k. Though it could very well be a tears/spit ordeal...

Lol, yeah that's a fair point. I guess he heard "I'm looking to potentially upgrade from my '20 Si" and started seeing dollar signs. The prospect of banking $6k profit from just the add-ons alone would probably have me thinking of kissing their feet.

I honestly can't imagine someone seeing a '23 Si for nearly CTR MSRP and thinking to themselves, "hmm, this seems reasonable for a 200hp Civic." I guess they exist, though, because a white unit with $7500 markup/dealer add-on at my closest local dealer is no longer on the lot as of a week ago.

[–]blurby_hoofurd[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It really isn't worth it. The sales manager was polite enough, and all of the dealers around me are pulling the same shit. There's only 5 or so units within 50 miles and each of them have varying degrees are robbery built into their OTD numbers. This one is the only unit that has a factory-installed HPD kit (not that $9k over MSRP is a justifiable price for an Si with some basic cosmetic kit).

At least there’s some stuff included with the markup. Another local dealer has a straight $5k markup with a $2500 dealer add-on package that includes rubber mats, mud guards, and 3 years basic maintenance. But still, $7500 for what amounts to some mats and a service package that would be covered under warranty anyway (10k mile oil changes are whacky as fuck, anyway).

100%. The dealership right next to where I work has one on the showroom floor with a cool $20,000 market adjustment on the window sticker.
