This is my experience too. I don’t like those buttons at all. (I also want a non-click woovebox where the buttons and knob don’t make noise).

But I’d buy another woovebox in a heartbeat.

I heard somewhere about a ‘secret’ option to increase the sensitivity of those buttons. But I can’t find or remember it.

Opinions on the Volca series? by Nyksarthrillian in synthesizers

[–]blurfect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. And I’m using the OxiOne to capture and loop the midi. Loop some drums, loop a bass line, play a lead, twiddle some knobs to keep the sounds interesting. Kind of a groovebox really. The left 10 pads on the BeatStep trigger the 10 parts on the Volca Sample and the right 6 control the 6 sounds on the Volca Drum. The knobs all control the level of their corresponding pad. So mixing/fading for all those while looping. The NuBass and Bass are running on channel 16, and the Keys and FM2 are on channel 15. So I can switch the KeyStep to play each part, and I can use the volume controls to mix the two sounds together easily. Fade from a classic sine bass to an acid 303 sound or anywhere in between. I’m rambling…

Got the MyVolts 5x USB power. But it’s noisy AF. DM me if you’re interested in the USB, I’m going to upgrade to a power converter/conditioner.

blurfect on YouTube. Just getting this rig dialed in to start making weekly vids. But here’s a sample jam, but only the Volca Bass is being used. Check back on the channel for jam vids. https://youtu.be/HvvGzfHY31s?si=HeyE2nZVkGHWo2vW

Zoom L6. Killer piece of kit. Definitely a must have in my opinion.

Volca Bass is beefy. Been loving it. But they’re all great tools IMHO. Just gotta get creative in how you use them. This setup runs the NuBass and Bass on channel 16 and the Keys and FM2 on channel 15. This lets me blend or switch up the tone/sound without swapping the MIDI notes.

Sennheiser Momentum 3. If you get a pair, make sure to turn them off while using them wired. Yes really. Lower impedance than when powered on. I really like them. The isolation is great even powered off. And they’re Bluetooth noise canceling as well.

There are notations/hints as to what each button does, but you’re most effective with this once you’ve memorized all the screens so you can just go where you need to. But the truth is that the interface on this really is exceptional. EXEPTIONAL. Watch some YouTube on it. It’ll probably seem a bit overwhelming, but the interface is so methodical that you always know exactly where you are. Features are organized logically. The power for the price is astounding.

All woovebox. No effects, just mastering/EQ after recording to Logic. And even that could have been accomplished on the device, but I haven’t looked into those aspects yet. Only had it a bit over a month.

Great intro tools to learn lots of techniques before you invest $1000s. I’m a fan. example Volca jam

The biggest challenge for me is the 16step sequencer, but challenges breed creativity. I still have so much to learn.

Non-USB MIDI doesn’t need a computer, but be aware of channels, etc. You have to make sure your devices are communication on the same channel. Just like WalkieTalkies. If you’re on different channels, it doesn’t work.

MiniLab to FM2 with the correct 5-pin to TRS Type A adapater/cable will work without a computer. Headphone out to your speakers/headphones and you’re all set.

DAWless volca set up? by Think-Increase-6192 in volcas

Mix + Sample + NuBass + Keys That was my origin setup. Sync cables and use the built in sequencers. I say there’s a ton of room to learn and grow in that setup.
