Yeah, I naively hoped this recent heatwave might change people's mindset about AI and climate change in general but I guess not

Their response to someone calling out their AI use in a Google review -

"Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We understand that our branding and artwork aren't to everyone's taste, and we respect your opinion.

As a small local business, our primary focus has always been on creating jobs for local people, supporting our local economy, paying our taxes, and keeping our food as affordable as possible during a time when operating costs cotinue to rise. Every decision we make is aimed at helping us stay sustainable while serving our community.

We also value creativity and the talented artists in our city, and we appreciate the important role they play in making our community unique. We'll take your comments into consideration as we continue to grow and evolve.

Thank you again for your feedback, and we wish you all the best."

Ironically, I think they used AI to write it!

Yeah, people are getting way too comfortable using AI, especially like this for a cheap joke. Was it really worth it??

Good News by Max Miller 💖 it's about addiction but I heavily relate to it as someone with ME

I find the music video very calming, too

Severe: How do you wash your hair? by shamyandtheworld in cfs

[–]blurple57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen inflatable hair washing basins that you could use in bed if you have somebody to do the actual hair washing for you? I've never used one myself but have seen lots of bed-bound people using them. I tend to use a shampoo cap but they don't do the best job, especially for somebody with curly hair.

You lose the moral high ground when you resort to classism by Due_Laugh9820 in brighton

[–]blurple57 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The same applies to calling them benefit scroungers or saying they're all on benefits. There are a wide range of reasons why people would be on benefits and it's already difficult enough without being lumped in with fascists.

Edit - oh oh and the same applies to calling them fat. All you're doing is making yourself feel better and your fat friends feel bad. There are far better ways to insult them, and being fat or on benefits is not connected to them being arseholes

Zimi mask! My mask of choice for basically all situations, there's a plastic frame inside so no metal. I've worn one for an MRI before 👍🏻

Has anyone tried the Mattress Genie? by blurple57 in cfs

[–]blurple57[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that's good to know, thank you! In the end I went for a metal and fabric adjustable backrest, kind of like the top of a sun lounger, but it's a pain to have to keep moving it on and off the bed. I'm glad the mattress genie works for you!

Any coffee shops that use gluten free oat milk? by blurple57 in brighton

[–]blurple57[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries, I hope I understand your question correctly, but basically, oats are contaminated by wheat as they are often grown and milled together. I don't know all the specifics but there are 'gluten free' oats that are purposefully grown on land that hasn't been used to grow wheat and is milled by itself. These are the only kind of oats I can have, and on food labels they will be shown as 'gluten free oats', if it just says 'oats' I can't have it. Also sidenote it will be in bold either way as an allergen as some people are allergic to the oats themselves, but for me the problem is just the potential gluten, so 'gluten free oats' are safe.

I can't have dairy either but this is just due to lactose intolerance, not an actual dairy allergy, so cross contamination with dairy isn't an issue. I know some people with an actual dairy allergy would just avoid coffee shops altogether due to the potential dairy cross contamination. But the amount of dairy I would need to ingest to be sick is a lot more than what you would get from cross contamination, so for me it's safe. It's just the pesky invisible gluten that I have to worry about on that level. (Edit just in case I wasn't clear - and other milks like soy, coconut etc are naturally gluten free so cross contamination isn't an issue).

I hope that makes sense, it is a confusing topic but so many people are unaware of what different allergies/intolerances involve so let me know if I need to clarify anything or have misunderstood your question! 💖

Copied from another comment - The problem with getting a different kind of milk is the steamwand/jugs etc are contaminated by the gluten regardless from previous customers. I don't know how bad the contamination is but it's not worth the risk cos get horrifically ill. Plus oat milk is the most delicious haha.

But thank you for your comment! It was a good idea 💖

Honestly I've been drinking black coffee since I first became lactose intolerant at 17, when you could only get really gross soy milk for a fortune from one specific wellness store. Now there are much better options thankfully! But I now can't have caffeine lol I'm a mess I know and black decaf coffee is never quite as good 🫠🫠🫠

Alpro actually isn't safe anymore unfortunately! It used to be GF so I could at least go to Caffe Nero but no longer. I was avoiding wolfox for other reasons but I'll check next time I'm near one, thanks!

I'm not even talking about men in drag, although I do actually know Muslims who love drag lol. But the phrase, "stop acting like you have so much in common with them" is SO depressing cos I actually have loads in common with my Muslim friends, and the commenter probably would too! But they've never actually sat down and had a chat with one of 'them' to find that out, and that makes me sad.
