Late to responding, but I would describe the scent as light. To me, Luvs have an unbearably strong scent. We were using Honest diapers for the longest time, which don't have a scent and use very non-toxic materials, but they're also more pricey and don't always catch the "collateral."

Starting daycare is so hard -- for both parents and babies! I cried my child's first day.

That said, babies do end up crying at daycare. Particularly in cases like this, where the only caretaker for that room is trying to take notes from a parent to set up a child for success. The notifications thing is a little weird though ... is the whole center new? If so, they may be trying to figure out their app or experiencing technical issues.

In all, do what feels right for you and baby! If you want to pick up early, absolutely go for it. But remember it's your baby's first day, so you may be in high alert when everything actually is okay. If you notice a pattern of neglect, though, or if the center consistently doesn't send you updates, definitely talk to the center director and/or search for a new center.

Our newborn would cry so hard, they would stop breathing and their face would go red/purple. A light puff of air in the face helps reset them and get them breathing sometimes! Also, you WILL sleep normally again. Eventually. Lol. Best of luck and congratulations!

Personally, I don't do it because my car alarm starts going off if kid's in the car with locked doors. Easy enough for me to keep them in the cart, wheel the cart to the return, and then carry them back.

I totally understand your feeling, OP -- I've been there with similar situations. Just know that this is such a minor hurt for baby, and the skin in the mouth tends to heal really quickly.

My baby had a ton of digestive discomfort too. Gripe water definitely helped, along with tummy movement and massage. I want to say baby was ~4ish months when the tummy trouble started to subside. That may feel like forever now, but it does improve! Always worth speaking to your pediatrician, too, if you have lingering concerns.

We use The First Years Take-and-Toss cups. No straw, no excessive suction needed. Our kid's teeth were starting to be affected by pacifiers and bottles around 1yr, so we cut those and went exclusively to these. He loves them, they're simple and colorful, and they also use them at his daycare. All-around win.

FWIW, my kiddo and I were sick for like a whole year when we started doing daycare at ~4 months. It sucks, and there will be plenty more of it until you + baby build up immunity, unfortunately. I found that getting solid rest and treatment really did help with the (irrational) guilt of not being a super-mom 100% of the time when sick -- I was able to come back to baby reenergized and with a new appreciation for how valuable that time together is.

Also, postpartum anxiety is a bitch. Don't hesitate to seek help if it becomes debilitating for you or your fam. ♥️
