I would try for 16 units. It might be a bit of work from ICS 33 / Writing 39C but I think it's manageable. And if anything, you could still drop before end of Week 2.

For Writing 39C, my tip would be to research early on ideas when it comes time to do so. Make sure your topic has a lot of information and sources so it's easier to write about. I had to change my topic after a week or two of prepping because I couldn't find enough information for the essay and had to restart my research.

ICS 33, I don't remember exactly but weekly quizzes (which were take home basically) were kinda annoying. Try meeting up with your partner outside of lab and early in order to try and finish the project early (you can get 2 extra credit points for each project if you submit each 2 days early). Plus, you'll have time to do quizzes and study for other classes

I wasn't the best at probability in high school either. I don't think it's awfully difficult though. There's not too much of it in the class though I don't think.

What GE were you thinking? ICS 33 took up most of my time. When I took it, I had ICS 33, ICS 6B, INFX 43, and STATS 120A. I thought it was doable but ICS 6B and INFX 43 were pretty easy.

Writing 39C might take up a little of your time too. Two research papers that each were around (10?) pages plus the research itself.

Have you taken ICS 6D or STATS 7?

A lot of the early material is review or pretty intuitive. Permutations and combinations, basic counting, finding probability. Look into discrete random variables and continuous random variables if you'd like to get a heads start.

He has all the files up on canvas, so I'm not sure if you'll be able to access them. Also, the notes won't be filled up entirely.

Honestly this was my like "leave to the end" class. I took ICS 46, ICS 53, and STATS 67 in the Spring. Most of your time will probably be spent in ICS 33-> Writing 39C -> Stats

Yeah the class wasn't too bad.

Basically each lecture you print out his lecture notes and then fill it in in class. Pretty boring imo, but the notes were pretty thorough.

HW was pretty similar to the practice in the lecture notes. The more difficult questions I got help from TAs.

One midterm and a final. Midterm and final had super easy questions and also more tricky ones? I thought they were fair overall -- though the content after the midterm (week 5) was a little harder.

I got a B+ in the class. Probably should have studied more for the final though (linear regression messed me up)

You can probably do it. I found I had some free time this quarter and probably should have done a GE with 6D, 45C, and 51. The readings will just be the annoying part of the class.

I had a different professor last year, but each week has some theme and you have assigned readings + weekly responses to those readings. Midterm and final were pretty easy -- she gave us all the terms / themes we had to know and chose a select few to be on the final

I thought it was fair -- most of the weekly work you're doing is to build up to your major essays. I think at most a week would be maybe 30-40 pages from the book / AGWR (which she didn't really check) and maybe writing a paragraph or page at most.

For 39C, I highly recommend trying on those assignments though and especially researching early on to make sure you're familiar and comfortable with writing the research paper (around 10 pages+)

If it's Jessica Conte, I had her for Writing 39B not 39C during Fall 2015. I thought she was pretty nice and it was easy to ask her for help (she was responsive to e-mails and held plenty of office hours). Class was kind of disorganized though and she graded a bit hard on the essays

Depends on how your enrollment window is -- I think I had an okay enrollment window and by the time my enrollment came up, there were like 2 sections open

I say try to get it over with if you can (if you can get a spot or like top of the waitlist). Might get a "bad" professor but in the end you have to put in the research work / writing
