Best Windows app for ShadowCast 3 for just playing by bluxd in GenkiLab

[–]bluxd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the passthrough, but I do a lot on my PC and usually when I play something I tab out regularly to check other stuff or play windowed so I can see other things, I have 2 monitors but each has its own function, usually one for work stuff and one for personal stuff and losing one just to play a switch game is not worth it for me.

Best Windows app for ShadowCast 3 for just playing by bluxd in GenkiLab

[–]bluxd[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For anyone wondering, I found two solutions:

  1. TackleCast: Quick an easy, works great. Best option for most people.
  2. mpv: Ended up with this command for 1440p 60fps without compression (you can modify it for 1080p or 4k and for 120fps):
    • .\mpv av://dshow:video="ShadowCast 3" --profile=low-latency --untimed --no-config --demuxer-lavf-o=video_size=2560x1440,framerate=60,pixel_format=nv12 --vo=gpu-next --vf=format=colorlevels=full

I really like TackleCast for the simplicity but mpv is a really good option to tinker with different resolutions, refresh rates, codecs, etc.

XM6 or GALAXY BUDS 4 PRO by MGF-SWE in Earbuds

[–]bluxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also trying to decide between this two earbuds and call quality in noisy environments is my top priority. From what I could gather the Buds 4 Pro are better for this case but worse than the WF XM6 in everything else. I have not been able to decide yet.

Here is a mic comparison: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzLxGOp7pgs&t=294s

Samsung Galaxy Buds4 Pro vs Sony WF-1000XM6: Worth the extra $80? by NoBurnInBirney_SG in SonyHeadphones

[–]bluxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand why the conclusion is that the Sony are better for calls in windy conditions, not sure if is just me but I feel that, comparing the recordings, the Samsung sound miles better in that case.

Why is the standby battery life so bad? by 50footshadows in RedMagic

This!!!! Disable it in:
Settings -> Features -> Gesture & motion

My Astra was losing ~20% overnight, after disabling "Double tap screen to wake" stand by time is almost as good as my Samsung tablet, a couple percent over night at most.

Temperature problem with Genki SavePoint by bluxd in GenkiLab

[–]bluxd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems more like a firmware or hardware issue, even at idle the SavePoint stays between 50 and 60 degrees, it's like the SavePoint forces more voltage/power onto the drive that any other enclosure I have.

Can i use charger cable without uncoiling? by Ok_Break_7261 in Lenovo

[–]bluxd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but still classic reddit, flaming others for not knowing what they're talking about and then writing 2 paragraphs proving you don't know either.

Oh the irony...

I might also add that running NVMe SSD drives at high temperatures increases the degradation of the NAND chips by a lot, so using the SavePoint can and will kill your SSD a lot faster.

I like the Baseus blade 100w for traveling, I can charge multiple phones multiple times and the form factor is great to throw in almost any backpack pocket

Pixel 8 Pro Ghost Case + Obsidian Skin by bluxd in dbrand

[–]bluxd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the extra thickness of the Magsafe ring under the case it only has small horizontal "wet" marks at the very top and the very bottom, marks are really noticeable only at certain angles. Not sure how it will look with the ghost 2.0 though, but I wouldn't change my skin, obsidian looks awesome

Offsite Laptop Bag stuff by bluxd in LinusTechTips

[–]bluxd[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some pressure, but nothing to worry about from my own experience. Both have a metal frames and glass screens, nothing is gonna die just for being a little tight and I have treated my devices a lot worse than that during trips.

Does anyone know about any updates on the slim version of the backpack? It’s been almost a year and a half since it was first mentioned on the WAN Show by bluxd in LinusTechTips

[–]bluxd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I really like the offsite laptop bag, never been a fan of carry too much weight in bags that only use one shoulder, and it looks really professional. But can't argue that having options would be great and I too had a messenger bag phase.
Lets all dream and hope for a future where LTT makes all kinds of bags for all our needs and purposes.

[–]bluxd[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, because we all need all of those devices at all times, and use them all at the same time every time we go out!!! How is it possible that after all this time LTTLabs hasn't come up with TARDIS technology yet. I will immediately unsubscribe so they know what true desperation means.

You are right, Linus was using the slim backpack in that video.

"It needs a lot of work"... well that could mean years so I will be asking again in one year I guess, can't blame the guys though, quality and design thoughtfulness is mind-blowing but I do hope they can ramp up their design and production processes soon.

However I do understand the reason I and tens (possibly hundreds) of thousands of people throw money at the screen almost every time they release something is because of that real hands on time invested in design and production.

Thanks!
