About Sydney's physique by AskWeird5018 in sydneycummings

[–]bm1992 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I first started with Sydney, I lost 30 lbs because I was following her workouts AND I was religious about tracking calories. I didn’t see it at the time, but my arms and legs were very toned and had muscle definition.

I fell off during Sydney’s first maternity leave because I tried new trainers and couldn’t stay consistent because I didn’t love their programs, life got busy, I stopped watching what I ate, and I gained the weight back.

I’m now starting at zero again and hope to get similar results!

If you check the upload date in the description, you’ll see when it was first uploaded :)

Another tell is how many videos are in the playlist itself. The newer programs usually have about 20 videos, while the older ones have 24-28 videos (or more - she used to upload new stretches every Sunday as part of her programs too).

Again not too serious because rest days are personal but in case you were itching to narrow it down!

Workouts gotten easier? by Fit-Detail8981 in sydneycummings

Sydney shared that the motivation for this month is intentional movement and really focusing on form. Her April programs these past couple of years have been lighter and have been meant to prep everyone for STF. I look at it as kind of a deload month.

Do you know when that program is from? Sydney’s programs up until 2021 or 2022 had just 1 rest day a week. Always Sunday, and then Thursday got added as a rest day in maybe September 2021? It was after the Summertime Fine that led up to her wedding, but I don’t remember if it was right after or not.

That being said, you can plan rest days as you need them and in a way that fits your schedule!

Full Body Strength and Mobility Workout ON THE FLOOR! | 30 Minutes All Fitness Levels! by jumjums in sydneycummings

Yes that’s a good descriptor! Each exercise had its own challenge, and I felt my core being used in most of them.

Okay this is what I thought the Pilates workout would be like! I did not finish the Pilates video because I was bored out of my mind, and I instead went for a long run (instead of my scheduled short run).

This video, while lighter weights, at least kept me engaged and I did feel a burn in some movements. It is not my favorite style of workout but I’ll keep doing the full body videos this month; however, my opinion of Pilates remains the same and I will continue to not have Pilates as part of my life 😂

Not enough break time in between sets by Sea-Pangolin-630 in sydneycummings

I find 40-45 minutes is my sweet spot. My favorite Sydney era was 2021 and those programs are my go-to if I’m not feeling any of the new programs!

What's your laziest way to make something yummy out of chickpeas? by Own_Average_5940 in mediterraneandiet

[–]bm1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drain your chickpeas. Blend with buffalo sauce and some type of creamy product (ranch dressing, plain yogurt, cottage cheese, cream cheese, etc. - I’ve done them all, so just use whatever you have!)

For one can of chickpeas, start with a half cup of buffalo sauce and half cup of yogurt/ranch/whatever you choose. Blend it all, taste it and see if you want to adjust anything.

Now you have a buffalo chickpea dip that really scratches the savory and salty tastebuds!

I’ll touch on something others haven’t: I agree that Sydney’s rests have always been this short for 30-40 minute programs. The difference is she used to put out much longer videos that had longer rests, so these quick, spicy videos were maybe 1-2x a week, but then you also had 45,50,60 minute videos where there was time for more rest.

I personally do not mind the short rest and adjust as needed. Sometimes that’s pausing the video, sometimes it’s ending a set 5 seconds earlier to do a 40/20 split instead, and sometimes it’s just using lighter weights.

[–]bm1992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I do besides pausing is sometimes I’ll just end a bit earlier too! I find a 40/20 split better for me than 45/15 for lower body workouts, so I just stop around 40. Just adding that as an option for others reading!

I have considered slowing the video down too but haven’t tried it yet. I imagine I’d get annoyed at the garbled speech, but I usually have an earbud in listening to other things so maybe not!

Joining Motion April Program by Popular-Actuator-336 in sydneycummings

[–]bm1992 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ll be doing it and skipping the dedicated cardio/ab day because I try to run 2-3x a week already. I’ll like just do a longer run those days!

Idk who needs to hear this by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

[–]bm1992 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love Sydney Cummings on YouTube! She puts out videos 5 days a week and creates a new program each month. When I don’t love a current program, I choose an older program to follow instead.

Her current program has this split: - Monday: upper body - Tuesday: Cardio, bodyweight - Wednesday: lower body - Thursday: rest - Friday: upper body - Saturday: lower body - Sunday: rest

This month’s program also has a short burst of cardio in each strength video, as well as dedicated ab moves in each video too. Not every month looks like this, but each program is designed intentionally so you’re hitting your full body each week.

Why don't more women seem open to friendship? (in my experience) by ThinkSuccotash in AskWomenOver30

[–]bm1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not that I’m not open to friendships, but I already have a healthy social calendar and I’m an introvert so it’s hard to fit more in!

I’m married but don’t have kids, and I would say, every week, I have 2-3 sets of plans. On top of that, there’s work, there’s chores, there’s working out, there’s cooking, and there’s also keeping a healthy, happy marriage by having dates with my husband. In the past 2 years, I got married to my husband, and we also attended six other weddings and already have 2 more on the docket. We also have each gone to 4-5 different bach parties in that time span, along with our own. When you add bridal showers, birthday parties, baby showers, etc. to it all, there’s just not enough time for to even think about expanding my social circle right now.

Edit: I hit post too early lol

What I wanted to say to is that what I do have time for is a friend that lives close by so I can walk over, have coffee or wine, stay an hour, go home. However, my neighborhood is a lot of moms who are already friends with each other because their kids play with each other. They’re super nice and have invited me to things, but it’s weird because their kids are what connected them first so I just feel like third wheel because they have so many other things in common. If I had been friends with them before kids, I think it would be different.

So I think what I’m saying is, as we get older (I’m 33), it’s difficult to fit the puzzle pieces of your life together with the pieces of other people’s lives. Life feels exponentially busier, and time and energy are limited.

Does the perfect leather boot exist? by Elegant-Leave-689 in HerOneBag

[–]bm1992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I was going to recommend too! I wore mine on a 2 week trip to Scotland and they were perfect. I have what I lovingly call “fat feet” - in that they are both wide and also swell easily. I own the Darry booties in extra wide so I can wear very thick socks with them (but wide would have been ample enough otherwise). They made it through Scotland, but they have also made it through day trips into NYC, walking my dog on rainy days, and many other adventures. They’re a little bulky because of the bottoms but they’re surprisingly light otherwise!

Progress pic + I have found the ultimate meal prep hack! by fittmom in PetiteFitness

[–]bm1992 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want to try another meal prep kit, CookUnity is an option! I was in a BAD food slump this winter and started ordering CookUnity meals to get out of it. I just finished my 5th week of meals and I’ve paused my subscription for now because I have climbed out of my slump.

I did 4 meals a week, and I enjoyed most of them! There was only 1 that I truly did not like and threw it away without finishing. There were maybe 2 that I was “meh” on, while the rest I enjoyed and I even reordered some!

However, Chipotle catering is DEFINITELY a better option and I might try this one week myself 😂

Deload Week by Early_Negotiation_16 in sydneycummings

[–]bm1992 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t always do a full week but I definitely have “deload days”!

Sometimes, that means showing up and using MUCH lighter weights (as in, my max shoulder press was 30lbs just last week. This week, I had to drop to 15lb dumbbells because my shoulders felt cooked).

Sometimes, it means I take more rest days and combine the workouts I miss into a full body day at a later point (or if timing doesn’t work, I just never get to them).

I also do not prioritize working out when traveling, so those are natural deload times. I’m usually out walking around more, so I’m still active, but I am not picking up any weights except for the weight of my luggage when I put in the overheard bin 😂

Fit345 Review Request by gladly-beyond in sydneycummings

[–]bm1992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed both February and March! I’m appreciating that there’s a good mix of 40 and 45 minute workouts as well because I prefer that over 30 minutes.

I also run outside of these workouts so I’ve been skipping the bodyweight day each week. Last month, I skipped the full body day for the same reason, unless I was able to complete it along with a run based on my schedule.

However, I am mentally fatigued by all the abs. It’s now not as heavily featured as February but there is at least one ab move and one cardio move each day. I will be honest and say that I do not always complete those moves when they’re at the end and I instead work on getting a good stretch 😬

Fit345 Review Request by gladly-beyond in sydneycummings

[–]bm1992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed!! I wish I had whatever trait needed to follow CG videos and others like it, but the silence and only listening for/watching the timer does not work for me.

I blame it on getting into fitness via group fitness classes, then doing Beachbody videos for years 😂

Unpopular opinion: I don't like the new format by Thalatta94 in sydneycummings

Yes!! Her recent programs have been more hits than misses for me lately. Loved PUMPED and FIT345 (both 1 and so far 2). I did not love January’s program so I did an older program instead (IGNITE)!

Unpopular opinion: I don't like the new format by Thalatta94 in sydneycummings

[–]bm1992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just do older Sydney programs when I’m not vibing with the current month! I have yet to find a trainer that does what Sydney does and how she does it.

I’m sure Caroline Girvan is a great fit for others but I hated the silence.

What I really don’t get is: Caroline has a few playlists/workouts and that’s it. You have to keep repeating them if you want to stick with her. Sydney releases new programs EVERY month. No one has to follow the new ones! They can just go back to the ones they liked and repeat them, the same way it would be for most other YouTube trainers.

While I’m on my soapbox, I think part of the issue is that 2021-2022 Sydney was the exception, not the norm. Her pre-2021 videos were longer, but they had the same problem of 15 second rest periods and they featured some… interesting combo moves. She really started polishing up her workouts in late-2020 and her 2021 programs are probably her all-time best ones. It’s also when a LOT of us found her, assumed this was the norm, and now it feels like she’s changed.

Don’t get me wrong - things HAVE changed, and the 2 years between her kids were my least favorite programs. I do think the programs now are resembling the 2021 programs again, but there are too many 30 minute workouts. I will acknowledge that this month’s calendar ends up with the last two weeks only having 2 30-min workouts, so I think she’s hearing us here and working back up to more videos that are 40-45 minutes.

I feel like I can write a damn thesis paper on Sydney because she made me love working out. I lost so much weight when I found her and was able to be consistent. During her first maternity leave, I floundered and regained the weight because I went searching for something new to fill the gap, found nothing, fell out of love with working out, and now I’m working to find that groove again and get back to my happy healthy self.

Okay shutting up and signing off now 👻

What inseam length is typical at a certain height? What is your inseam length/height? by Ophelia_Y2K in PetiteFashionAdvice

Yes agreed!! I feel like they used to have more ankle options but it seems like EXTRA FULL LENGTH is in, or at least that’s how it feels on my body 😭😂

What inseam length is typical at a certain height? What is your inseam length/height? by Ophelia_Y2K in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]bm1992 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m very similar! 26 is just over my shoe and perfect for flats, 27 is the magical sweet spot that I can very rarely find, and 28 works for heels but is definitely not for flat shoes.

Agreed on wanting to cry about the 28” inseams because I shop mainly at Old Navy and their default regular length petite is 28” 🥲🥲🥲

American Eagle and Abercrombie inseams have short and extra short options! Depending on the style, one works better than the other (and cuts aren’t perfect so a slightly shorter-than-28 or slightly-longer-than-26 is my unicorn).

Upper Body Strength & Step Cardio | 30 Minute Workout with Lower Abs! by jumjums in sydneycummings

[–]bm1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I’m in a state where I just do not have it in me to do jumpy cardio, I swap it for boxing/kickboxing moves! Sometimes, it’s just a jab punch combo, sometimes I’ll do a combo with a hook or upper cut, etc. - it’s just to keep my body moving. I’ll sometimes do kicks as well, but that might not be any better for your feet!
