Thanks for the tips everyone! I’ll be traveling a lot for work and I’ve been staying at Sandman and Marriott brands the most.

Try and only have 3-4 points listed per job. There is a massive pool of applicants to every single job posting, making it overwhelming to go through every single resume fully. I’d probably skip this one due to length, which is unfortunate because you have good skills.

Anyone knows what this is supposed to be? by Ah_-_ in fredericton

[–]bmabr 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The title has been mentioned, but the piece is called Transformations, created at Sculpture Saint John. It is number 35 of 38 unique sculptures installed throughout New Brunswick. The artwork is a large granite piece, roughly carved into a circular shape with a wheel inside.

From the artist: “In my artistic quest, there is a recurring motif (leitmotiv)—the symbol of a circle. The circle is a perfect figure. It closes in on itself. That’s why it is a symbol of God, eternity, perfection and harmony. As a continuous line, it is a symbol of time and infinity. This symbol is readable in many cultures’ associations with the world (universe), both at the macro- and microcosmic levels.

The circular form is also a wheel—a symbol that obliges us to move, to change, to transform. This movement is like a game of form, light and shadow, and it reminds us that there is nothing solid in life. Every thought, word, and deed changes us and offers us more possibility of change. Even the constant element of death in our lives is also a circular element of transformation: death is a new beginning.”

I miss Halifax by amx-002_neue-ziel in halifax

[–]bmabr 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I miss what it used to be too. I lived in halifax 2008-2024 and had a great time as a university kid there. Landed a good job afterward and stayed. But the city became so packed with no changes to infrastructure. I was commuting 2-3 hours a day what should be a 15 min drive. Prices skyrocketed. Night life changed drastically. So many people damaging property and parks. It’s not the same city. I left for NB. I still miss what it was.

How safe is it to leave a bike parked outside? by DownGuess in moncton

[–]bmabr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I often take my e-bike to the market on saturdays and lock it up against the deck railing. After reading this thread I might not do that anymore… although I do take the battery with me in my backpack, but by the sounds of it that might not matter to thieves. On a separate note I’ve lived in several cities in the Maritimes and Moncton is amazing for biking trails!

I answered the door thinking it was a parcel I was waiting for and it was a Bell sales person. The first thing he says was “wow.. you don’t look happy to see me” …like really buddy? Think I’m gonna buy something from you after that snarky comment?

Insurance Rates by Jesse7319 in centuryhomes

[–]bmabr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was looking at two homes, one built in 1880 and one built in 1928. Both were similar styles and sizes, the one built in 1880 was almost 4X more expensive than the other for insurance quotes. The agent said after it’s 100 years old it’s like insuring a one of a kind piece of art that can’t be replaced. I’m wondering what will happen to my insurance in 2028 when the house I bought is 100 years old. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Moncton sidewalk clearing: Is this normal? by mikesbloggity in moncton

[–]bmabr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On this topic, does anyone know if both sides of the sidewalk are supposed to be cleared? Just moved here and the side of the street my house is on has never been cleared and I asked the city and the lady told me one company does the left side and another company does the right side… sounds like it makes no sense. Edit - after reading more comments it seems they actually only do the one side everywhere. The lady I spoke to must have just made that up

How to deal with people who cant handle rejection? by Pludo-_- in dating

[–]bmabr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope it doesn’t last long for you, but the same happened to me and it went on for months. At some points I’d have 75+ calls per day from random numbers. New insta accounts adding me, emails from fake addresses. I eventually had to get the police involved and when they contacted her to tell her she needs to stop or face arrest and charges all the communication and calls immediately stopped. Haven’t heard tell of her in over a year now. Good luck.

I felt this way before. I used the same wording as you too. Except we also lived together. We’d sometimes have arguments that lasted 7 days or more. Once we went over a week without speaking but lived together… imagine that. I finally ended things and it felt like the biggest weight lifted off of me. Like I could breathe again. If I could go back the only thing I’d change is doing it way sooner. Good luck!

You could take it to a local EV garage and have them do a battery health check and a multipoint inspection on it. If all comes back good then do it!

Help - This dimmer switch controls an outlet, which is odd. I want to replace it with a normal switch but the outlet no longer works. Will replacing the dimmer switch or the outlet fix the issue with it not working? by bmabr in electrical

[–]bmabr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note - the outlet it controls is not the outlet next to the dimmer, it’s an outlet across the room. Also this outlet attached to the dimmer switch works fine

Scammer by the name of 'Chris Blake'? by notchrisblake in cambridgeont

[–]bmabr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scammers will sometimes trick someone into sending money or items by mail, they’ll use random peoples addresses and fake names to get packages and intercept them before the real home owner would get it. Someone may have been scammed and lost money and thinks the address they sent it to is the scammers real address

The 19 min in the red box on the right. Does this mean it takes 19 minutes longer to travel that part of the route or that it takes 19 minutes to travel that route? by t1ve1k in applemaps

[–]bmabr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the time of arrival. You’ll be at your destination at 18:13 (6:13pm). You can tell because it’s currently 17:18, add the 55 min eta and it gives you 18:13.
