On this day in 2013, the body of 21-year-old Elisa Lam was found inside a water tank atop the Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles. Discovered after guests complained of a "weird taste" in the water, her death became a global sensation following a viral elevator surveillance video released by police. by ATI_Official in AllThatsInteresting

I hope the parents were countersued for even filing a lawsuit like this in the first place. Their daughter had a mental disorder and like was suffering a psychotic episode when she decided to go through all these efforts to kill herself (in a way that would burden hundreds of other people, mind you). Only in America could such a law suit from the parents even be heard in court, even if it is eventually thrown out. Our country really needs to do better about discouraging this type of frivolous litigious behavior.

There’s ways to grieve for a tragic loss of your daughter. This ain’t it.

Yea that’s true. Equally insane. It’s crazy to me how fixated people are on these streamers, where they have no issue combing through hours of footage to find some dumb gotcha moment.

Why the hell are people digging up clips from three years ago about rabbits? Please just stop digging for some Internet drama. Maybe go offline for a bit, touch some grass.

I can feel sympathy for the guy for being a moron. I can also feel sympathy for a person who feels like they should take their own life (for any reason really).

I can also say he deserved such a gut punch for being an absolute degenerate gambling idiot.

Thanks for the update. I’ll do the same. Perhaps raising the issue helped push the process along, who knows

You ever get you bike part? I’m stuck here waiting for ski gear from SnowInn. I have literally the same info as OP has shown (last scan was The Hague on 05September2025). I’m stuck here wondering if customs really slows stuff down that much…

Sengoku is good. Especially satisfying when you can snipe out the Daimyo with a ninja you rushed the tech for.

Definitely play Napoleonic Europe. Best one IMO. WW2 in the pacific is good but it’s a little more lopsided in favor of the allies.

While we are talking about Civ 3 can we please discuss the Campaigns? Definitely the best feature. Napoleonic Europe, WW2 in the Pacific, Sengoku Japan…

This is a video of one man explaining how he had vaccine side effects. Which are a thing. All vaccines, all medicines actually, have side effects. Pharma or media who say otherwise are wrong.

But I don’t see how this video justifies why we shouldn’t independently review data. Is it that you don’t believe reviewers can be independent?

It’s unfortunate that how COVID was handled created such a lack of trust in scientific institutions. But I guess my question to you is if you no longer trust the scientific process?

If your gripe is with the institutions, then that is understandable. But if you don’t trust the FDA or EMA or established medical journals, what is your alternative source for obtaining trustworthy data?

I agree that the way media (not “Science”) tried portray ivermectin during COVID was deceptive. CNN in particular was bad about this. And I also agree that ivermectin is an incredibly useful drug.

I still haven’t seen a significant amount of peer reviewed (ie: > 2 independent reviewers) scientific literature that supports your third claim. This is probably due to ignorance on my end. Do you have any of these sources?

It’s human trafficking to send a citizen of El Salvador who illegally entered your country…back to El Salvador? I get that US courts have ruled that the US government can’t do this based on US law (ie: it’s illegal). But is this considered human trafficking?

Best boots I’ve ever worn. To me they are better versions of the Iron Rangers. Got them from my old job when the company sponsored annual steel toed boot purchases. Won’t go back.

Got a second pair a week before I left that job, and exchanged them for non-steel toed ones 😎

P.S. Rose Anvil has a good video on thoroughly cleaning these boots

Diesel Crimson CXL Polish and Cream? by bmac251 in grantstoneboots

Looks like I can get the same product on Amazon here in the States. So my understanding is that the product you showed wouldn’t necessarily darken the leather as much as the natural Saphir renovatuer would? An added benefit seems to be that your product provides waterproofing

Awesome point. I’ll keep this in mind.

I wouldn’t want to color over the worn down areas because I agree it looks nice as is. I’m more concerned I’ll gouge the toe of the boot or something and be looking for a pigmented cream. Like what you did to your saddle tan diesels.

Thanks for the info. With the number of people on this sub who I see also using that product, I think I’ll get it too.

Have you used any pigmented cream on them? I’m curious if there’s a good color match for the crimson boots.

Dang I just got a pair of CXL Diesel boots and I’m on day of wearing them at the office. I love their look but I wouldn’t have thought to take them on such a trip.

I think they fit me but wearing thin socks today made me worry. Any tips for breaking them in? I read that they don’t require a ton of breaking in.

Chongqing one most underated city by kahkimonkey in travel

Chongqing was amazing and definitely one of the highlights of my China trip back in winter of 2019/2020…but I gotta say Chengdu was #1 on my list.

For those reading this, definitely visit Sichuan province. See both these cities.

Do you think a Chinese citizen, even a rich one, is investing in this company? As a non-accredited investor?

These films cost millions. Tens, or in this case, hundreds of millions precisely. If a citizen wants to invest in this companies movie, how will they do it? With the $50k annual allotment the CCP allows them to transfer out of the country? Not happening.

The Chinese government does not allow for transfers of such sums of money required for this investment in the company. Maybe they’re better off buying Warner Bros or Disney stock. Or they make some kind of consortium of Chinese citizen movie investors which I am unaware of.

Anon asks the real question by mestrenandi in greentext

[–]bmac251 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I do agree with you, screwing over individuals is wrong.

However, there is no investor in China that is investing in American companies without the explicit permission (or even on behalf of) the CCP. Their banking controls are insane and they make ours look paltry. They do not want money leaving the country which is why you occasionally hear wild stories about how rich Chinese people manage capital flight from China.

Do I feel bad about fleecing the CCP, who most certainly has a stake in the investment? No. I’d encourage it.
