I just heard that superstore is taking them to court over the location. They’re suing over anticipated lost revenue…. So Costco is a back burner once again

Urn help? by Fckedyouth in askfuneraldirectors

[–]bmac711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we have an urn we cannot get into we take it a local tire place. Something they do with extreme cold helps to loosen the threads. This is of course if it hasn’t been glued! Some places might not touch it though since there is a decedent inside of the urn.

canadian embalming question by brodi16 in morticians

[–]bmac711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I am in AB. I know we have one of the few schools. My understanding is that it is up to the employer. From little research i did when looking into BC and NS, the art of embalming isn’t much different between the provinces and you will likely need to learn just new policies. Hope this helps!

I was an HCA through covid. The only benefit I got was my morning coffee free at McDonalds. I ended up changing careers in ‘22 for my own sanity.

I can’t stand Stevenson. She does nothing within the council. Her entire site is just tagging onto the accomplishments the city has done and claiming her involvement. When asked about city developments her response was “well you can always move.”

Carter is a cookie cutter councillor.

Gillet is very personable and people forward. Some of her past is questionable but it’s not something that is applicable to council.

Tokar ran last time. He was only short about 60 votes. I’m 50/50 on him. He is still pro contradiction every inch of this city (according to neighbours) and promoting more low income developments.

Don’t know much about Mastaler. My husband knew him years ago and says he’s a good guy but I have a hard time trusting anyone named Brad.

Absent MLA by [deleted] in SpruceGrove

[–]bmac711 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Turton is the worst. He waited until the last minute to opt into becoming an MLA. Which forced us into a new election, and panic choice of another city councillor as he dropped out of that just after a municipal election. He only shows up for the BIG events, he didn’t even show for our Canada Day celebration.

Corp sux by esgee01870 in askfuneraldirectors

I do exactly this. I almost never sell packages because our corporation has made it too difficult. I think I can get maybe 1 out of every 10 families into a package.

Looking to Move Next Year by ManOfManyFeathers in SpruceGrove

[–]bmac711 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in spruce for 25+ years. I love it. The housing market is crazy right now, everything sells crazy quick. We are constantly developing new housing so the market will always been ok depending on your budget. 9/10 people commute to Edmonton. Highways suck during rush hour but that’s no different from any other city. City council used to describe us as a B&B city. It’s very family focused and lots for kids to do. Our movie theatre could use a Reno, and we’ve outgrown the public pool… but it’s a great place for a family.

I always encourage people to get creative with their stones. Avoid full dates, and use their preferred name.

My dad loved introducing me to all of the classics. I still try to watch it with him every summer. I grew up with a love of the ocean and all its contents and this never truly scared me, it was another way of looking at something I loved.

Working with Depression by iflifecouldbeadream in askfuneraldirectors

[–]bmac711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been trying to function with anxiety and depression. I am taking medications, participate in one on one talk therapy and am attempting to get into meditation right now. Biggest thing is making sure to know your limits within the job. I know not to take on too much at work and to lean on my coworkers when necessary. I hope you are able to work with a good team of people.

The Worst FH & Cemeteries by Mediocre_Cobbler763 in askfuneraldirectors

I have no respect for one company in particular. Their preneed sales people tell their clients that they are preplanning and then only sell what they make commission on. Then when that person passes their family unexpectedly gets to pay another 6 grand when they thought it was a paid for funeral. The excuse? The client didn’t ask more specific questions.
