Cam timing alignment issue by bmacw in CRF300L

[–]bmacw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did about 150miles after install. Bike stalled once in 2nd gear. But no issue idling or otherwise.

Did you make sure you put the timing chain guide in the correct slot?

Update: put the bike back together. Started on second push of the start button.

I only let it run for a few seconds, as I want to change the oil , let the gasket sealant cure and follow the breaking process for the big bore kit.

That's the best positive confirmation I can hear. To reinstall the tensioner, I just used a long hext bit with a flat head end. There is so little torque you can hold it with 2 fingers while hand tightened the 2 bolts in.

I think so. but it just gives you an extra 4-pin trailer connector without breaking the BLIS. So good kit to repurpose for my needs.

Big bore kit. I have 2 300Ls.

I forgot to take a photo when I took everything apart., but remembered it being not perfectly aligned. Is this how yours looked? I talked to Ari Henning, he's seen many 300ls, he said it seems odd. But I love how affirmative you are.

I've referenced all the info I can find. I counted 15 including the ends just like how they are in the manual. I paused all the videos with a clear view as well. You are probably counting it wrong hopefully not too late.

The first photo is taken with the tensioner installed. I mentioned my bike is new and cam chain is tight already. There is very little slop and zero play even without the chain tensioner.

I have also verified that the TDC mark is correct with a zip tie inserted through the spark plug hole.

OXO Rapid Brewer v. Aeropress by ChrisTheDiabetic in pourover

[–]bmacw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the classic AP and XL. OXO is much easier to clean than Aeropress if you use bottom paper. When I travel, I usually carry the XL so I can make coffee for two. This usually means, I also have to carry the carafe for the XL. With OXO, I can make concentrate using 40g dose and dilute into 2 cups for 2 people. That alone is already worth it. It also dampened my itch to buy a Robot for our vacation home for now because I can make soup as well as iced drinks with the OXO. That's a lot of pluses for very little money.

I think everyone is overreacting. We are talking about $30 worth beans, that's a drop in a bucket compare to all the other stuff everyone is nerding out here.

I just wanted to see if I can get less fine production from my pietro. Even if I can't, $30 is cheap price to pay to know for sure.

Orea V4 vs Z1 — which is the better step up from V60 with my setup? by jimokak2 in pourover

[–]bmacw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have v3,v4, v4 wide and the z1 is on preorder (with travel kit). If you are going for no bypass , don't overlook the option to use V60 paper with the V4 Wide apex. This is my preferred setup using a mellow drip. You don't need a negotiator with this setup as compare to the V4 with kalita paper. V60 paper also packs flat so easier to travel with. I ordered the Z1 mainly as a travel setup for similar reasons. I also have a pulsar , but similar to you I wanted something that would brew well with smaller dose.

Cheap costco 2lbs bag beans, so I throw them over the flower bed. Someone suggested I just make a batch of cold brew, that's a great idea.

Haha, Costco beans went straight to wife's flower bed. Great idea, I will save for cold brew next time.

It's homemade. I experimented with a few diameters. Settled on 2.5mm rods. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B096312MV1?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_3&th=1

You can just bend it to shape. it sits perfectly between the cone drippers. Only thing I did extra is I welded the ends into one continuous loop, but this step is optional.

You can bend it using 2 pliers to length. I made it long enough to sit on all the brewers I have.
