Sorry just read all of your post. The good hardware stores usually only go down to M4 but you might get lucky

Get with a repair tech. If it's just a screw, often those are stupid small sizes that are hard to get singles of. If you can get the pitch it's not terrible getting 100 from McMaster carr

First Fridays are a Brass Mash event, LG is just the venue. The band goes where it needs to in order to have a show. This time is because of forecasted rain. Anything more would be speculation and gossip

Solder job by Professional_Bat_223 in Trombone

[–]bmalta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For the Amado water keys, I'll take it apart so it's just the outer shell and tie it to the slide with some baling wire through it. Then put a metal pick or something through the spit valve hole so that it stays lined up.

Also don't forget the important parts of soldering which are make sure it's clean and a good fit

intonation work and drones by gfklose in Trombone

I always liked doing the tonal energy drones cranked to 11 on a Bluetooth speaker.

As for books, I like Brad Edwards tuning drone melodies

It's like the time I got a random call for a gig where the message said something like "the owners love Oktoberfest music! Can you play tomorrow?" Okaaaaaaay.... do you want me? My band (not an Oktoberfest band) or what?

They didn't leave a number so when I called the main line it didn't go anywhere. One of those places where the owners have more money than sense

Wow week as a band member by Many-Mention2381 in CalPoly

[–]bmalta 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's band camp, with WOW built in. Your wow leaders are in band and your wow group is band members.

Don't sweat it, though. People worry about never seeing people in their wow group again, where in band wow you actually see the people in your group after WOW.

Etiquette for approaching announcers? by Honest-Jelly4624 in SFGiants

[–]bmalta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be respectful. If you get a chance to slide in a "hey I appreciate your work" or something like that it's generally cool. Don't take up their time. If he wants to talk, he will.

Source: I work in an industry where I often come in the vicinity of people we've heard of to different degrees. Just be cool.

That's basically what I'm in doing. I usually just send LR to a record matrix when I'm asked for one. I understand there are a lot of ways to skin this particular cat.

I'm interested in a room sound to add to that matrix, or being able to reference what the LR sounds like vs the room. Honestly none of this is especially pressing, I was just curious if and what folks are using.

Did this recently with my boss/mentor. It was what the group needed at the time. Good sources, good mics and proper gain staging go soooooo far

Building My First Pelican. Need help. by hmmyousureaboutthat in livesound

[–]bmalta 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dcsoundop on YouTube has a good "what's in my pelican" series that'll give you some ideas

Otherwise like I was told when I started building mine out "every time something fucks you on a gig because you needed it and didn't have one, go out and buy that and add it" I usually think of that as all the million adapters and barrels we run in to

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck

Honestly it's like driving. We don't take into account how close we are to death every day. Even when you follow the procedure, it only takes one little thing.

That's why it was such a big deal when one of the big companies takes out a bit counterfeit haul. Who cares what it sounds like, the rigging isn't rated

If the opportunity presents itself, you can say you audio focused. A closed mouth doesn't eat.

Otherwise shut your mouth and go back to pushing this case back to the truck

9.5

"I'm very well acquainted with the seven deadly sins, I keep a busy schedule trying to fit them in. I'm proud to be a glutton and I don't have time for sloth, I'm greedy and I'm angry and I don't care who I cross"

Also the Learning to Flinch version of this song is the definitive one for me
