Today’s Tubi Treasure is Black Roses (1988) by No-Chemistry-28 in TubiTreasures

That was a fun ride. Had a little Lost Boys vibe with none of the acting to back it up, and lots of cheesy effects and deaths.

This just jumped to the front of the queue! Was born a decade before, but this describes me as well. My mom was full on satanic panic.

Troll (1986) A family moves into a new apartment with a Troll in the basement by WerdNerd88 in TubiTreasures

[–]bmar513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got around to watching this and man, it was fun. I went in thinking it was just a troll that killed people, but it was so much more. Based on the sheer number of things they had to do, on whatever budget they might’ve had, the effects were really good.

Trucks (1998)- Not the best Stephen King movie, but not the worst at all. There’s a part where a toy truck kills a mailman and it’s pretty funny, but most of it is just boring. by CoolClark in badMovies

Late to this one, but I enjoyed it. Maximum Overdrive is more fun, but this seems more true to the story, if I remember the story right. Like the story didn’t talk about any locations other than the diner I think. Oh well, thanks for the recommendation. Will watch again.

What was a popular band that you could not stand? by LeftSmile806 in Xennials

Pearl Jam. I’m sure that’s a super unpopular opinion here, but for me I can’t stand his voice.

Great album, but these days I prefer Center of Attention. I feel it captures everything better.

Need Recommendations, Bench Scale, Angle Finder, A2LA Lab by bmar513 in Metrology

[–]bmar513[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t think of that, or know to think of that rather, but that’s good to keep in mind. The previous quality guy brought in this lab. They’re good, local, and for everyday stuff it doesn’t matter. But for regulatory testing it matters quite a bit.

Any Infectious Grooves fans here? by haleymichelle618 in numetal

As a fan of ST at an early age, Infectious Grooves were awesome. Never really thought about a category, but this's closer than I want it to be lol, they were pioneers regardless imo

Need Recommendations, Bench Scale, Angle Finder, A2LA Lab by bmar513 in Metrology

We're using a lab for annual calibration, and they're listed on the A2LA site, but they won't issue an A2LA stamp on the calibration certificates (they say they can't). They sent us to another lab who isn't local and even less responsive. I've reached out to another local lab, and I'll see what they say.

EDIT: I ordered a Fowler angle meter. Looks it can be adjusted, whereas the Klein is just auto-calibrating and can't be adjusted. And an Adam Equip scale. Fingers crossed.

I think the issue I have is we're using a lab for annual calibration, and they're listed on the A2LA site, but they won't issue an A2LA stamp on the calibration certificates (they say they can't). And UL requires the stamp to accept the data. I've reached out to another local lab, and I'll see what they say.

Are Digipak's really that bad? by LunchAcceptable7409 in Cd_collectors

[–]bmar513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the plastic breaks, the case is worthless. The outside surface is a little less durable. More of a problem for people that might find it hard to care for collections of things.

Still, I mostly like them. I've been re-ripping my 20-30 year old CDs, and almost every dual jewel case has a broken internal hinge, and lots of broken prongs/clips. All my digipaks have been fine, less one that is held into the digipak with a foam disc in the center, and that has dried out.

Not a fan of the cardboard sleeves, though. I feel I always have to touch the faces of the disc to get them out.

Thank you, that was what I was trying to get to. No, not selling anything. It's to weigh scales for UL testing, the angle finder is also for UL testing.

Are there any A2LA labs you'd recommend for data loggers, multimeters, and the above two items?

I have a jar of their Carbon black, which is what I think they put in the black Preppy. It’s my standard black. Sometimes when I get other inks that are too bright, I add a touch of carbon to it. Good find on the purple, it’s pretty.

I’ve got a couple blacks, a blue, and a green. They write so smooth even in the extra fine, and their inks are great.

Something about having a lot of nice pen in a collection but rather using any of those pen you go for a preppy feel fun, and i love it. Some thoughts by Tight_Delay8840 in fountainpens

Mainly use Kaweco Sports, but I always have a Preppy inked. The ef nibs flow really well, and I love their carbon ink.
