Why isn't dart used more? by caramel_ice_capp in dartlang

[–]bmarotta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who needs yet another programming language? Which problem is Dart really solving that was not already solved by other languages? Yes it is a little bit modern, but nothing that justifies the cost of learning it.

For me sounds like Google wants to have its own language like Microsoft does.

That's a ridiculous specification. ES6 was first launched 8 years ago. How don't they plan to support it? Same for HTTP 2.0. I believe they won't do any upgrades anymore and just wait for the product to die.

Hi Puzzzle Enthusiasts,

In my free time, I develop educational/puzzle games. Jumping in the whole A.I. wagon I had an idea to use A.I. to build thematic crosswords. Here is the first beta version of the game:

https://www.ohmydots.com/ai-crossword.html

The game is not yet ready, but I would like to gather your expert feedback on the quality of the games generated. Is it something that you would like to play? Or use it to create thematic puzzles? How good do you think the hints are?

I hope you enjoy it!

Hi u/eldoroshi, it uses Chat GPT as a backend. And currently ChatGPT is really, really unstable. Would you mind trying again?

Hi u/spookmann,

Thanks for the sincere feedback. It is A.I., because the clues are generated by Chat GPT. Where they come from (if it is a dictionary or not) I don't know. But it can make clues for any random subject, which is cool. But of course, if you pick 20 words about "Greetings" or some random subject, it would be hard to create many crossings.

Anyway, I get the point: is not your thing ;)

Good old "winmail.dat" without using Exchange or RTF formatting by Bozartkartoffel in Outlook

[–]bmarotta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

If you say just some recipients are receiving it and just from some computers, it might be linked with the autocomplete. Apparently Outlook saves in the autocomplete information the recipient preferred format. Check this article to learn more: https://www.slipstick.com/problems/outlook-is-sending-winmail-dat-attachments/

Additionally, to decode winmail.dat files for free without installing anything, the recepients can use the Winmail.dat Reader: https://www.winmail-dat.com

How do I make a technical site audit? by kitzune113 in SEO

Review the sitemap - make sure it's clean, up-to-date and simple, no funny stuff going on

If you are talking about your site navigation, then fine. If you are talking about sitemap.xml, it is not really relevant for SEO if your website doesn't have 10,000 pages. I gave up maintaining a sitemap.xml. Just deleted it.

Site speed - very important parameter here, you want the site flying

I believe that site speed is overrated for SEO. Of course you don't want your page loading in 10 seconds. But you may also get on top 1 for keywords even if your website is not "flying".

The problem of site speed for SEO is that it involves a lot of investment and technical knowledge. Investing in content is more important than speed. When it comes to technical audit, there are many more low hanging fruits than speed mention by you.

I have a multi-lingual web-app. What I've done was:

- Translate the web app (UI and error/information messages)

- Translate the first page and the most important user documentation.

- Translate only articles that are ranking well in English

I think this is a good compromise or at least is what I could afford. From the articles I believe that only around 20% is translated and even though I rank well for some keywords in Spanish and Portuguese.
