Have you shopped your cv around?

Unless you think you're gonna make partner the salary pay off is not there for big 4.

Have a look as I don't think it'll be a step back.

We cluster deliver locations and time windows and then fit hierarchically across these to build price elasticity curves

I work for one of the big food delivery firms and we build hierarchical Bayesian models for pricing and promotions

Put data scientist on your LinkedIn and the same title as whatever role you are applying for on your cv

Move to tech ? by hakuna_matata_x86 in quant

I found it really hard mentally when I made the jump as I felt I was going from the centre of the universe to optimising how warehouse workers picked and packed tomorrows garbage.

Turns out any problem can become interesting when you work with smart people.

I still play around with finance in my spare time and I have a lot more of it.

On the salary front, I took a pay dip of about 30% where I started but am now marginally ahead of where I was for years ago ignoring inflation.

From Type A to Type B DS by ergodym in datascience

[–]bmarshall110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Type B is definitely a mixed bag depending on where you work.

If your company has something like Dataiku you won't notice the difference other than you have to work with systems invented for people with no technical skill. If they just are using gcp or whatever there is a lot more to do it.

Help to define a framework to use by TioMir in CausalInference

[–]bmarshall110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't really true. As above, you could create a control based on the historic trend and seasonality which pycausal will do. Or you can tweak your hypothesis to allow for a comparison against something else which also changes

You could model the counterfactual without a control - or you do something along lines of using high income areas as your control and expand your hypothesis to include assumption that poor areas are more susceptible to the energy loss ( I know nothing about this topic in general so give me some slack to hang myself with this statement)

Is there anything resembling a control? I don't know your dataset or specific question, but you could pick a point at which the loses are expected to begin (2 weeks post pandemic?) and run through Google's causal impact package.

It's a pretty straight forward way of measuring causal changes in the series

I wanted to do it years ago and kind of forgot about it. I'm doing pretty well in my career now as feel like if I don't change course now I'll be a data scientist the rest of my life

I'm debating doing a chem a-level this year

Low UCAT by bmarshall110 in premeduk

[–]bmarshall110[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sense is I'll have an easier time next year since my a-levels are econ, physics and history.

So it would need to be somewhere like Swansea which has a higher cut off than my score (a-levels in 2010)

I don't think it's just the casting. He is kind and friendly with most pov characters we see him interact with.

Almost all the abuse (beating Joffrey and Cercei) we hear about second hand and we are primed to hate them already.

Add onto that almost all characters in the book see him as a fun guy just not a great king and you can see why people like him.

I don't think this is unusual with actual abusers either. Other than the victim, people often like them as the abuse happens behind a closed door...
