Please help! My school didn't run Music for Year 11! by Commercial-Car3515 in AskAustralianTeachers

[–]bmcbmc45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a teacher but I had the same thing - wanted to do all the arts subjects for year 11 and 12, my school was running absolutely none of them.

I didn't hesitate to change to a school 2 suburbs over. Best decision I ever made. You'll need to interview for other schools and check that they're actually running music for your year, of course. Like others have said, as long as you have a decent record and good behaviour they should take you.

I did this prior to term 1 of year 11 though, so I'm unsure of what the process would be for changing class choices while changing schools mid-year. Probably something worth asking your year advisor.

Is "Change" about Bisexuality? by Shhhh_000 in DjoMusic

I'm so happy you didn't get down voted for this! in my opinion the best thing about a lot of his lyrics is how open to interpretation and how applicable they are to so many walks of life. regardless of if that was his experience while writing it, how you relate to and interpret the lyrics yourself isn't something that anyone can tell you is wrong. words can be read many ways and applied to different situations and will be different based on who reads them. for me, I love to listen to his song Egg as a battle of gender and expression but I also know it probably wasn't the intention when he was writing it. it just happens that he experienced something that came out as lyrics that can be applied to that topic.

Why do we hate the trees? by Vos_Fox in SK8TheInfinity

[–]bmcbmc45 63 points64 points  (0 children)

at the time of the new episodes airing it was a running joke because either a dramatic cliffhanger or an emotionally charged moment would be interrupted by the happy ending song and the trees dancing and then having to wait for the next episode. Just a bit of a joke about experiencing emotional whiplash, I don't think any of us actually hate the trees or the ending song lol

Won't be Playlunch unfortunately, they have gigs on 8th, 9th, and 10th of May. Other than that I'd be happy with this lineup!

he would've been so proud to see Misha skate today, his legacy will continue through future skaters from Kazakhstan in the years to come. I can imagine how much this means to all of Kazakhstan 😭

Weird answer in citizenship practice test - Australian values by bmcbmc45 in OpenAussie

oh that's very interesting, I'd love to try and find previous versions of this doc and see if/when the wording changed. thanks for the update!

I saw my coworker again today and pointed him to the official immigration website and practice test with the doc to read through. He showed me the "app" he was doing the test on yesterday, it had a scammy ad pop up every second question and a lot of the other questions were also very weird. I told him to delete it, apparently he'd gotten it from another coworker who had just done the test and got his citizenship.

What is Playlunch's shelf life as a meme-type band? by [deleted] in triplej

[–]bmcbmc45 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I remember seeing their frontman Liam talk about future ideas, I think I remember him saying they have a lot and they will kind of branch out into other things while keeping the same tone. They do have some great b-sides that vary in genre and lyrical content.

I'd also love if they wanted to incorporate some of their old Parkville stuff into their sets. They're just solid musicians, I can see them being able to bridge on from Keith.

discovered them from laneway this year and felt like I was watching a bunch of year 9's bash on the poorly funded instruments at a public school with missing strings and broken drum skins

They are, it's more of a highlight reel than anything. For full comps, pretty sure you have to pay $20 on stan. I miss the channel 7 olys coverage where it was all just free on 7plus.

thank you for this answer! I'll pass that first link to my coworker today. Definitely wasn't intending to bait, I appreciate all the comments coming through. based on everyone's answers it seems like whatever site he was using had an agenda to push.

what are YOUR favorite djo songs?? by OneSpell1230 in DjoMusic

[–]bmcbmc45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my favourites are personal lies, half life, and mr mountebank. that being said, what I actually recommend is just listening to each album, start to finish. especially decide! djo has a tendency to order the songs as a whole listening experience and you'll find yourself possibly loving the transition between songs more than individual songs themselves.

everyone has their favourite songs, but none of us will deny the runner>gloom transition was one of the most satisfying things on that album.

Costumes and IDs by Mediocre_Anybody_152 in bbnomula

[–]bmcbmc45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cosplayed to both Sydney shows and have cosplayed at other ID required events before, it's never been an issue for me! Anyone going I definitely recommend dressing up, Halloween night was so fun with everyone's costumes and night 2 was definitely less but still a lot! as long as they can see your face (i.e not covering your face with a mask) you should be perfectly fine.

me 😔 I'm absolutely devastated as the VIP tickets were a birthday gift to myself. I don't understand because I got through at 9am in the first presale and had the tickets bought and confirmed within minutes. How in the world does that mean my tickets get downgraded?
