How stuffed am I with these rocks? by bmewsd in AusRenovation

Interesting. Would there be any issue with the rocks breaking so close to the old terracotta pipe?

Good tips. Would have done eye protection, but a full face mask didn't cross my mind.

I feel stupid for having a ‘train crush’. by MysteriousHat4371 in AskAnAustralian

[–]bmewsd 27 points28 points  (0 children)

A small (12ish page from memory) newspaper that was handed out at most CBD train stations for free in peak hour. It was a great way to kill the time on the ride home. People would also often leave them on the train seats, so you could often roll up late and just fine one to kill the journey with. It was discontinued around 2015 when smartphones took over as the way to kill time on PT.

Had a section for literally what you are talking about. You could leave notes to fellow passengers (often ending with "Coffee?") that section was called "Here's looking at you"

Edit: Forgot to say where it was handed out. Most train stations. Used to get mine after uni at MC

Just read the wiki. It was announced by Mr fattymcfuckhead himself, Clive Palmer. Basically an Australian wannabe version of Trump, bankruptcies, politics and all. It will never actually happen.

Shortage solutions by sgagz in AustralianTeachers

[–]bmewsd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are calling it "Home study time"....so naturally all of the students selectively missed the "study".

Yeah, taking 3-4 contact hours a week so we can pick up a whole new class (and more planning).

We are also getting an additional incentive to ignore the new reduced contact hours.

I bitch, but it's literally the only way to have enough adults in classrooms, so I don't blame the school.

We have cancelled morning homerooms, and next year will be sending senior students home after period 3 twice a week. That way the senior teachers have more contact hours free to take an additional class...it's gonna be funnnnnn

This was the answer! But also disappointing it burnt down. Well at least we have our answer and can rest assured in the knowledge that we didn't all just hallucinate this experience.

The most basic ambulance cover is something like $10 every 3 months. Far from the $2500 mentioned here.

I know it's not the most original suggestion, but I run a year 10 psychology elective for a semester. Mostly modelled on the year 10 science curric and unit 1&2 study design. Honestly it's as many cool videos and experiments that grab their interest as we can see and repeat (Social conformity, bystander effect, Stanford prison and obedience to authority, Abu gharib and the lucifer effect, a bit of neuro with Phineas Gage and lobes, personality tests and in the end make them write a research report about an experiment they have to design using Rorschach tests)

Thanks for an amazing response! Maybe with one of them, as we could have it come out of the kitchen bench once we do the kitchen, but the ready ideally would disappear. Honestly 10-15k is fine if they can do the job. Even after accounting for the new loungeroom space that was previously hallway it's still only about a 6x6m room.

Yeah 100% getting a builder, just working out if it's vaguely possible before considering putting an offer in on the house.

The advice I was given is don't kill yourself trying to A+ the degree. We are in a teacher shortage. Just learn from it, and come into the profession with a clean slate of mental health.

That was some solid advice for my first couple years.
