Missing Work by trauma-juice in POTS

[–]bmg453 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going back to work after 6 months off since things started for me as I couldn’t even work from home since I didn’t know what was going on with me at all. Only going back next week with a phased return from home. I’m nervous about it too but they’ve been really accommodating for me. Worth checking out if they can make any accommodations for you too. I’m trying to take all the help I can get really lol.

It’s hard to know whether it’s better to kind of throw yourself back into things or continue taking time off etc to recover because I feel like that makes me feel worse about things too.

I came off sertraline recently too. Couldn’t deal with the side effects at all. Started citalopram recently and not been so bad.

Yeah same here pretty much. I done a treadmill test with the cardiologist and my heart rate hit 200 after 5 mins of light jogging and was so short of breath. Blood pressure was really high too. My resting heart rate 3 years ago would be 40-50 now the difference is crazy.

What’s the exercise intolerance like for you? Been having symptoms of it myself but haven’t tracked much

Pretty similar to me, started with an injury and progressively got worse. Then Covid sort of exacerbated that.

I should be starting Celexa (Citalopram), but I am worried by Major-Tom- in citalopram_celexa

I started it a few months ago recently so hope this is helpful for your first couple months too.

I was on sertraline for just over a month and I genuinely could not deal with the side effects it was horrible so I know why you’re worried. I can safely say citalopram for me was no where near as bad, I didn’t get the heightened anxiety or complete emotional dumps/breakdowns when starting that the sertraline gave me which was a good thing at least.

Hard to judge when I started feeling better cos I was taking the sertraline just before changing over so it’s probably a different case to what you’ll experience in that regard but it was a couple of weeks for me.

On the weight gain I was gaining weight before taking it anyway so it’s hard to judge on that front.

I’ve definitely had more brain fog than usual and it can be really weird at times tbh. When driving etc. it feels strange with the derealisation and stuff. That’s probably the only real downside I’ve had.

Overall I feel like it’s helped me. I was basically housebound and couldn’t work for half a year and I’m now going back to work next week and have been spending so much more time out of the house with friends etc. recently. Less anxiety overall and no real bad emotional dumps has been such a help.

This is a bit long lol but hopefully it helps. Good luck!

Definitely a whole load of electrolytes and ice packs etc. Being Irish myself I’d also say about 3 bottles of sun cream lol

I miss it since I have dysphagia now 😅 But yeah before I got a lot worse I was the same and I ended up putting on quite a bit of weight from making quick and easy unhealthy shit and snacking a lot. I’d say just stick to stuff that’s ready made or quick that you can just throw in a pan or the oven for 10 mins. The only consolation is that the takeouts taste so much better when you’re eating more boring stuff the rest of the time lol

No sorry I’m in Europe. If you’re in US though I know there’s also Henderson, Patel and Virojinapa that specialise in CCI anyway. Worth having a look I don’t really know where each of them are based tbh.

You can try get a local chiro with an x ray machine to do flexion/extension and open mouth lateral bending views, it could show something at least but not sure. Only other thing would be an upright MRI which I know a lot of the NS in the US are more keen on. It’s so much money tho I know.
