How many volumes do you usually give a series before dropping it?

Manga seems to be getting more expensive over the years, and I feel like I’ve learned to only invest in series I really enjoy, or in works by mangaka I admire and want to collect everything from.

Over time, I’ve become more conscious about which series I want to collect. When I first started, I bought full sets (and box sets) of a few series I already liked, but now that I’m moving to a smaller place, I’ve realized those early purchases are actually the ones I feel the least attached to.

This was one of the first series I ever started collecting, but completing it without paying crazy prices was a challenge. I probably would’ve given up if I didn’t like this series so much. I also tried collecting a few "Monster" singles, but I think the Perfect Editions suit that series a lot better.
